Oh fuck does this piss me off, bravo Canada, where you can go to jail for years for hurting somebody's feelings under 'hate crime/speech' laws BUT if you want to kick and punch your 13 year old daughter to death for not doing a good job washing the floor and then say you're sorry for it, 2 months. The judge is as much a criminal as the Muslim shitbag father. This little girl's brain and liver hemorrhaged, this wasn't a spanking, this was a vicious beating.

Dad gets two months in jail for slap that killed daughter

LONGUEUIL, Que. ? A father will serve 60 days in jail for a slap that killed his teenage daughter.

Moussa Sidime, 74, says he just wanted to correct 13-year-old Noutene for doing a bad job of washing the kitchen floor.

Judge Richard Marleau decided Wednesday that two months in jail was sufficient, citing Sidime's remorse and clean criminal record.

The defendant had pleaded guilty last June to involuntary manslaughter for the attack that sent his daughter tumbling to the ground in their home in October 2010.

The court heard that the teen was struck at least three times.

A police officer testified that Sidime had called 911 to say that he had slapped his daughter and that she was bleeding from the nose and mouth.

Officers arrived at the home and found Noutene unconscious on the kitchen floor.

She died later in hospital.

The court heard that there were no external signs of violence but that there was hemorrhaging in her brain and her liver.

The defence had suggested a suspended sentence. The Crown wanted Sidime to serve two years in prison.

Judge Richard Marleau finally sentenced Sidime to two months in jail, citing mitigating factors including his clean criminal record and remorse.

He had broken down in court in February, telling his sentencing hearing that it was the first time he had ever slapped his daughter.

"If I had known one slap would kill her ... I can't believe it could be fatal," he told the court, sobbing.

"(She was) the kindest of my children I always think about my daughter. I'm not a villain. I've never been a villain."

Putting aside location, religion and race - killing a kid with 3 slaps is out of this world.

2 months isn't much, but from the limited info the article gives, seems like this was a case of a really unfortunate accident after hard disciplining.

You must be an idiot, 'unfortunate accident'? When you beat somebody hard enough to cause hemmorhaging it is NO ACCIDENT!!!

There's also a legal principle called 'the thin skull' principle, when you strike somebody with your fist or feet or anything the damage you inflict is on you - EVEN if the victim had some prior physical defect that you weren't aware of. These 'slaps' caused her death. He didn't intend to kill the girl but he did intend to hurt her, which he did and it caused her death and anything less than 5 years in jail is a joke.

The judge and the crown attorney are a disgrace.

It doesn't have much to do with the ruling/sentence, though in Canada it is taught that you must respect other cultures' ways so it could have played a part in the judge's mind though he'd never admit it, if this father had been a white anglo saxon piece of trash he may would have gotten more.

Religion has much to do with this crime, Muslims treat their women like dogs. If this child had been male the father doesn't beat on him.

I believe the "thin skull doctrine" only applies to civil cases, like when the dead person's family sues the killer for wrongful death.

But yes, this still does sound way too lenient for an intentional killing.

Hemorrhaging could have also been caused by falling and hitting her head on the ground. Though, none of us were there and will never know the whole story :2 cents:

So these 'slaps' were hard enough to send her down to the floor with enough force to cause bleeding in her brain. And the 'slap' to her body was hard enough to cause her liver to bleed.

The prosecution must have been as inept as the judge.

2 months in jail - we put people in jail for longer than 2 months for spray painting their name on a building!
