Haha, right? That place is truly a ghetto. I drove through a couple of times in a few of the nicer cars, and felt like I needed to bulletproof my glass.

I ride up to Sail Inn in Brooksville all the time. Good loud music.

Insides a piss-hole, outside has a stage with live music. Makes for a good ride.

Unfortunately it isn't so great. Downtown is so pretty and has that really old town feel to it. Old courthouse, wrap around porches, etc. All of the old southern style mansions all turned into ambulance chasing lawyers offices... believe it or not though, if you take some side streets close to downtown there are some streets that have the 200 year old oaks creating a natural canopy/tunnel ... some of it is really pretty.

Then drive 2 mins down the road and you're in hell. It's a shame.

Wow, that's really interesting. When I went downtown to file some paperwork, it looked kind of run down, but I do see what you mean about the old-timey feel to it. I may have to strap up and walk around a bit before it gets too damn hot.

There is quite a bit of interesting history there - wikipedia it. Some major Civil War shit was organized there. That's the reason we went for the drive out there in the first place.

FUN FACT: There is a massive live oak tree on the front lawn of the old courthouse. A bunch of people got together claiming that it had to be removed because there were hangings/lynchings done there back in the day. The city council came to a vote - unanimously it was denied :1orglaugh

Huh. Sounds pretty neat, actually. I haven't done a ton of exploring around here; we're constantly traveling.
