Breaking: Phoenix police respond to officer-involved shooting
 

Phoenix police were investigating an officer-involved shooting near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

A Phoenix police spokesman said at about 4:15 p.m. officers were responding to a shooting in a central Phoenix neighborhood.

No officers were injured in the shooting and the extent of the injuries to the suspect were not immediately known, the spokesman said.

The investigation will force police to shut down the intersection at 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road for several hours on Tuesday and will likely impact Metro light-rail service in the area, the spokesman said.
