Fuck Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in NOLA

Just arrived in New Orleans, the fucking Wyndham has us booked for a god damn ROOM instead of a suite, and TWO nights instead of five. Showed the manager my confirmation email, he said he can't help us until the weekend. No discount or anything either, not even waiving the $34/day to park. Fuck this place, I'm a double-gold member with their loyalty program, too.

Pretty bad from the manager. I'd escalate to head office and wyndham rewards...

Already on it. Got our markets set up at the casino, it's time to lose a few grand to drown our sorrows.

Right? It'll be a day of getting it sorted tomorrow. All of the food we brought is going to spoil, too -- the room has no fridge, whereas the suite does.

Haha -- is that what I can expect? Been a decade since I was last here.

They have to provide you with room in another hotel then. Don't talk to manager, call customer service. I mean overselling hotel is normal business for hotels, but they have to provide transportation and room in another hotel at their expense.

LAJ 05-28-2014 05:59 AM

Wow that is fucked up man. They owe you big time especially since you have the proof.

You'd think so. The issue wasn't overbooking (the suite is available), it was crossed wires with reservations. They somehow have to make the booking at the hotel or some bullshit, and they transmitted it as two separate bookings instead of one. I spent the night in a room instead of a suite already, so it's already fucked up ... plus the spoiled food, etc. Dickbags.

I'll definitely be bringing it up with Wyndham Rewards. I already cashed out all my points last night ... and I had a ton.

Sounds like you got bumped for a "paying" customer.

I paid for this room. What I meant about the points is I cashed them out BECAUSE of this situation -- I booked a bunch of weeks at Disney for people who wanted to go, LOL. I had soooo many points, it's ridiculous. :thumbsup

Been on the phone one and a half hours so far with reservations. They have combined the reservation into one, which will apparently help the hotel pull its head out of its ass. However, $349/nt for a regular room instead of a suite still pisses me off. This definitely isn't over.

On another note, we made a large donation to Harrah's last night, LOL. D'oh!

This made me double check my confirmation..it's showing on the website..

That's actually a good idea. Let me get on that.

DreamGirls 05-28-2014 10:28 AM

Tell them you have medicine that HAS to be refrigerated, and they have to provide you with a fridge.

Wizzo 05-28-2014 10:28 AM

Interesting idea! I hate to be dishonest anywhere but GFY (where I am obviously routinely full of shit or trolling).

Haha, good call!

edgeprod 05-29-2014 10:57 AM

Front desk superstar took it upon himself to call reservations and straighten it all out. Had to stay in the room the first night, but I'm in the suite now. Good stuff, front desk guy!

PornHustler 05-29-2014 11:04 AM

If the manager wont help always go above them to the next in charge. If your right then ask for the GM or the front desk manager.

Fridges are usually provided if you ask and there are some still available, in every room as long as it fits. Most hotels have them available for guests.

newB 05-29-2014 11:36 AM

I haven't been there since before Katrina, but I remember a snazzy lounge/bar in the lobby area.

The last time I was there Harrah's was all set to offer accommodations upstairs, but the local hotels were blocking them from offering them, as they could undercut the costs.

watch your credit card on file with them after you check out. Radisson Blu fucked me over with mini-bar charges 2 month later. Didn't even know there was one there. Same story, downgraded me to tiny room with one bed and later slapped with 60 euros charge.
