Recent studies suggest we should actually be getting 7 servings a day of fruit or veg. I personally get about 3 per day on average, mostly from fruit, I have a banana, serving of grapes and clementines or apples daily. I need to increase my vegetable intake, I tend to skip on vegetables since I only like certain ones like carrots, peppers, onions, mushrooms. I try to eat 2-3 salads a week to compensate.

Make a smoothie for breakfast, it helps. have a snack of some carrots or celery during the day.. and try to include a salad during dinner (it could be a conventional salad, or maybe a slaw, or tomato/cucumber salad, beet salad) Tonnes of choices. I've actually cut back on the number days I include a starch with dinner in favor of salads and more varieties of veg.. grilled asparagus being a favorite.

Its easier in the summer time since I put in a garden.

I found a recipe for the Mastro's creamed corn, holy fuck is it good, but not sure it qualifies as a vegetable when its done. :winkwink:

moe than 5. Its MUCH easier if you do a fair amount of juicing. I used to laugh it off, but the truth is, I did 3 days of nothing but the juice below and never felt so god....really amazing. Sleeping better, working out more, skin looks great. After 3 days of "cleaning out" my system, now I drink about 4-6 glasses a day along with a really healthy diet, then will throw in a day here or there of Just the juice.

Kale, Celery, Chard, and just enough Apple to make it bearable

oh, and GET a masticating juicer. They are expensive, but what comes out is night and day

I've got a pretty good sized year-round fruit/vegetable garden going, helps a lot to be able to walk outside and pick the stuff fresh. Strawberries coming out my ears right now, blueberries on deck. Peas and early potatoes also ready. Always got a couple kinds of greens going for each season.

unless you are eating the pulp most of that turns to piss though. The fibre is what helps absorption. Through both chewing and saliva.

Always better to eat the real thing, do your best not to over cook, bright colours are usually a good sign that things are intact. If you aren't a fan of tastes of some learn some simple sauces to work with, does wonders. I tend to stick with high fat diets so allows for a lot of options with that.

2 big macs

Hardly any. Most often, I consume fat and protein. My body's tolerance of carbs is so low that fruits are usually straight out, and vegetables are difficult to consume in large enough quantities to matter.

candyflip 06-03-2014 01:47 PM

Fruits and veggies? I eat them non-stop. If the kids don't see me eating them, they're not going to eat them.

Choopa Phil 06-03-2014 01:57 PM

I try to limit my GMO sources to only 2-3 things.

I like where this thought comes from. Good Dad duty.
