Ukrainian minister: 3 tanks cross from Russia
 

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) ? Ukraine's interior minister says that three tanks have crossed into Ukrainian territory from Russia and were attacked by his country's forces.

The Interfax news agency quoted Arsen Avakov as saying that a "column" with armored vehicles crossed from Russia through border control points controlled by pro-Russian separatists near the Dyakove village in eastern Ukraine.

He said vehicles including automobiles and armored personnel carriers crossed the border. He said that three tanks went to the town of Snizhne about 40 kilometers (24.86 miles) from Dyakove. One remained there while two others left in the direction of the town of Horlivka and were engaged by the Ukrainian military.

Avakov said that "part of this column has been destroyed" by Ukrainian forces.

Russia has denied sending troops or equipment into Ukraine and no independent confirmation was immediately available.

Avakov said the incursion took place despite Russian statements of interest in a peaceful solution and intent to increase border controls.

Maybe not. But three tanks and a "column with armored vehicles" that has hundreds of troops armed with assault rifles.... That's another story.

Avakov is not exactly most reliable source. Those "3 russian tanks" were captured by Donbass resistance 3 days ago

First of all, pro-russians captured T-64's, not T-62's. The T-62 is a further development of the T-55.

Sorry my mistake , T-64 is correct. was in a rush to leave office and wrote T-62 instead.

Russia does not use T-64 (obsolete model), while the Ukraine does. I believe it explains it very clear on where those 3 came from...
