The question now is will Trump and the birthers go after him? I think not :2 cents:

I be confused. (Happens often enough.) I always thought you had to be born in the US to be President - an issue McCain had to deal with. (Although wasn't McCain born on a US military base in Panama?)

Seems he might just qualify.... From wikipedia:

Quote:

The weight of legal and historical authority indicates that the term "natural born" citizen would mean a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship "by birth" or "at birth", either by being born "in" the United States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to foreign parents; by being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents; or by being born in other situations meeting legal requirements for U.S. citizenship "at birth". Such term, however, would not include a person who was not a U.S. citizen by birth or at birth, and who was thus born an "alien" required to go through the legal process of "naturalization" to become a U.S. citizen.
If this is the accepted definination of "natural born citizen" then he might just qualify.

Whatever, not really caring.

...can't believe you made me scroll so far down for such a crappy joke. Ugh.

Would love an answer to Rochard's question. Don't you have to be actually born in the US to be eligible to run for president?

And, let's say that the law is changed and Cruz can legally run and be elected... and even if you believe his fucked-up political views, would you still trust a guy to be president who leaves his birth country behind?

I hope he runs, and then loses the election, hopefully partially due to some scandal. Where will he go after that?

The comedy of this is that Cruz's situation is likely the same as Obama's where his mom is American therefore he is an American citizen, but his father isn't. Somehow I have a feeling if Cruz goes deep into the primaries or even manages to capture the republican nomination the birthers will not being going after him in the same way.

They won't. The Democrats will have their own version though. :-)

Why surely the right wingers are not hypocrites are they? I mean they are just so American and even Jesus lovers.. I can't imagine they would just let Ted Cruze slide by with out a good Birthers scandal..

It's completely different. Obama was born in the United States, Cruz was born in Canada.

Similar.... Obama was born in the US, but Cruz was not. But of course, facts matter not to Cruz. I really hope he makes a run for it. Yes he will shame us Canadians, but we know you guys won't vote him in.

If you are born in another country, but parent is a American citizen, you would qualify. (Like Romney did, he was born in Mexico) So Cruze could run :(
