McDonalds pay more than this per hour :2 cents:

What do you need to get done?

Maybe you could pay a flat-fee to get your stuff installed then maintain it yourself?

I very rarely see a need for a full-time server admin except if you have a really big network. Most tasks can be handled by a webmaster with some extras given to an admin.

You can email me details: myleene[at]reallyhotstuff.com

I can handle all your requests. You're surely looking to install specific scripts and get their dependencies installed? provide details on those too please.

Just getting some basic admin functions set up, admin on server, root, cpanel and consultancy. Its really just the setting up of the server - once its done, it should be fine. There are no scripts per se (as far as im aware).

But we are adding more servers soon and they will also need to be set up.

You don't want an admin who is willing to work for $12/hour. A tier 1 tech at any hosting company will make more than that.

RummyBoy 06-16-2014 11:36 PM

Basic configuring of WHM, Cpanel on CentOS etc...... sites are simple html with couple of php contact forms.

cpanel made me laugh

India to be correct.

carpocratian 06-17-2014 01:53 AM

You might find a high school kid to do it for that, if you're really lucky.

Well we don't have complex requirements and its really basic admin.
How much do you think we should pay per hour?

dirtymind 06-17-2014 03:26 AM

why don't you get your hosting company to do it.

hit me up and lets have a chat about the options.

iwiiiiiiiiii 06-17-2014 04:42 AM

I understand you probably don't have more money to invest, but like dirtymind said you should use your web hosting company because yeah I'm sure you'll find somebody in India to do it, but you can also expect a lot of future problems that will make your 12$/h worth 40-50 later on.

All the stuff you listed can be done in really no time at all...it's pretty easy too and you can find all kinds of tutorials out there if you want to do it yourself (a control panel like cPanel, Webmin/Virtualmin, VestaCP, etc can make everything even easier).

I highly suggest you find a managed provider though that way you can just have your host do that stuff for you.

Wired Tree and Known Host are two really good managed VPS (they do have dedicated too but specialize in VPS) providers, for dedicated you can check out Hivelocity, Limestone Networks, etc..

potter 06-17-2014 06:43 AM

All the good reliable server admins I know are $50-60/hour

mikesouth 06-17-2014 07:36 AM

There is an old saying...you get what you pay for. In the long run this 12 dollar an hour admin is qoing to cost you far more than 12 dollars an hour. you find a good reliable admin and you may what he/she asks for matter of fact if it isnt in the 50 dollar an hour range you can bet it isnt a good reliable admin.

I wouldnt even allow someone to do much more than wash my car for 12 bucks an hour...on second thought prolly not even that

Supz 06-17-2014 09:53 AM

anyone know a good neurosurgeon for $29.99 ?

dicknipples 06-17-2014 10:04 AM

You're not gonna get a good reliable server admin for that price. Sorry.

anyone outside of India / Pakistan that works for those wages has to be an idiot :2 cents::2 cents::2 cents:

PornDude 06-17-2014 04:16 PM

Add "stdio51" to Skype. He is one of the best Linux sys admins I've worked with.

And not to be a hater, but these are not the types of people you want to have access to your server. The stereotype is very true.

carpocratian 06-17-2014 11:36 PM

If money is tight and the tasks you want done are just those you listed (which are fairly simple), why not just learn how to do them yourself so you don't have to pay someone to do it for you in the future?

Manfap 06-18-2014 12:05 AM

A cheap Server Admin is like a cheap whore, you worry for months afterwards incase you caught something.

That's true.. many contractors working that cheap will install scripts to steal credit card numbers and stuff like that.

notjoe 06-18-2014 08:41 AM

What everyone has said is really on par. Also, You may spend $50/hr for an experienced admin and only $12 for a noob, the different is that an experienced admin may get what you want done done in an hour whereas the noob will spend 5 or 10 hours.
