Google To Become Domain Name Registrar

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-27972053

You heard it here last (assuming its been posted multiple times before me).

It looks like the Moniker people can now go and register at GoogleReg.com

Only downside? The NSA/GCHQ will have access to your domains and will probably set up their own surveillance sites on each domain whilst your not using it. Then the USA will say you have to use the domains or pay a tax for leaving the domain name vacant. Then on top of that, you can only keep your domains if you're USA citizen and if you try to ditch your citizenship, you lose all your domains :1orglaugh

Google is buying everything, opening everything and will soon be in your house watching you ... oh wait, they already are.

I figured Goog would have already been into domain registrars. They could afford to buy any of them.

Google was actually accredited as a registrar years ago, they've just never offered services to the public.

Google on Monday launched a brand new carrier known as Google Domains so that it will supply area identify registration, along with services and products like a website builder and electronic mail services. This transfer by way of Google brings them into competition with companies like godaddy and Big Rock. Google?s web page seems to spotlight the simplicity of their provider, and also brings the focal point to the new set of top-degree domains equivalent to .guru and .images as a substitute the of the more acquainted .com kind of web site address.

Yesterday Google launched a totally new service called Google Domains that will offer you to register domain name, with services like a website builder & email services. This initiative by Google brings them into competition with Giant like GoDaddy and BigRock. Google?s site is highlighting the simplicity of their service, and also brings a new trend of top-level domains such as .guru and .photography instead the of the common .com type of web address.

What is interesting features in new service?? Some of the cool features that Google is giving away for free are paid on services with sites like GoDaddy. This includes no additional charges for private registration, up to 100 email account for your google domain, customise sub-domains, and the fact that Google Domains uses the same DNS servers as Google?s other sites means that your domain should be extremely reliable.

Applied for 102 new gTLDs
^the above is public record with ICANN

So, Google has bought in in a big way ...

I only quoted these 2 more arcane sources because they make the point of possibly one of the reasons for Google's move now -- vertical marketing of their gTLD investments ...

Plus when they know X owns A, B & C websites targeting the same market they can kill rankings for B & C.....
