As far as Tom Cruise goes, I don't understand this grudge everyone is holding against him...for what? Jumping on a couch when Oprah asked him too? There's only one Tom Cruise, and he delivers 110% in every movie he's in. Fuck the haters.

I like the guy but he's not star wars material. Star Wars' cast should be a bunch of talented unknown actors imho.

Exactly. Im not sure who is a worse actor... the guy who played Anakin Skywalker, or the kid who played him in the phantom menace. Such cringe worthy dialogue and performances from both of them. It's like he asked "what's my motivation in this scene?" and every time George Lucas would reply "pretend you're made out of wood."

The first 20 minutes were gold when I was a kid in the 80s. (Hint, Carrie Fischer)

I loved ROTJ.

Not as much as the first two obviously, but still thought it was great...

Yup. Horrible acting in all the new movies for me.

I posted this a few weeks ago but the Phantom Menace was on tv here recently and since it was just starting i decided to sit through it again. It was so painful, i couldn't. Think i lasted an hour at most. Has to be one of the worst films made. The next two weren't much better...

I would hope that with this and other episodes they make that they manage to improve the story, not kill it further. I hear Mark Hamill is turning in his food stamps and has a part in the new SW's.

good god, the hate is starting to spread to the original 3 now? Return of the Jedi was fucking awesome, hands down. Criticizing it 30 years later is ludicrous. If you go over the first two movies you can find oddities and odd choices in those as well, doesn't make them any worse.

if they plug cruise in there it will be someone so minor it wont even matter either way so I can't imagine why anyone would get upset about it. The bottom line is lucas is out of the mix so that alone will make it better.

I'm really excited for the new Star Wars movie, especially since it has the original cast returning, and because its directed by JJ Abrams who did a great job on Star Trek and Mission Impossible 3 (MI 1 was the best, MI2 sucked).

And maybe Tom Cruise is wonky, but he's a great actor. I thought Edge of Tomorrow was kind of so-so, but I *LOVED* Oblivion and Vanilla Sky. If you really want to see what a good actor he can be though, watch Born on the Fourth of July.

Don't bash the current Star Wars makers for considering Tom Cruise though. George Lucas after all, Actually shot scenes with NSYNC for Star Wars Attack of the Clones before finally listening to others who begged him to yank those scenes out of the final print. Phew!

why...i didnt like it in 1983 & GFY did not exist for me to post about it.

its just IMO. i thought the ewoks were stupid, there was no action from the death of jabba to the final attack. the whole thing that leia is suddenly a jedi sister was retarded & pointless. what did that revelation add to the story? only that Han was relieved when he was no longer competing for Leias pussy.

i am not exactly alone on this cause rottentomatoes lists episode 4 at 93%, episode 5 at 96% & episode 6 at 78%.

i do however agree that leia in a bikini did start the movie off well.

Over the years, seeing many of the documentaries on the making of Star Wars, I'm of the opinion that the movies were great in spite of George Lucas. It seems that the more creative control he got, the cheesier it got. Case in point, Ewoks, the "Special Editions" effects added later. And the last 3 movies. I had hoped Disney and Abrams would have learned from the franchises past mistakes, I'm still holding on to a glimmer of hope though.
