terrorism

Since 2010, there has been a 58 percent increase in the number of jihadist groups, a doubling of fighters, and a tripling of attacks by al Qaeda affiliates.

Twenty years from now we will all have electric cars... No one will give a shit about all of the oil the Middle East has. Then they are truly fucked.

And on a related note, you don't have to be Nostradamus to foresee what will inevitably precipitate the end of civilization on this planet.

Three words: suitcase size nukes

If Al-Qaeda ever gets it's hands on one, well...

The good news here is that such weapons are still many years away from actualization. The bad news is that the construction thereof is theoretically doable.

That really is our best hope -- "let them eat sand and drink oil"

But the next 20 years will be a bitch ... Come to think of it -- the past 10 years were no walk in the park anyway.

Alberta, Canada has approx. 170 billion barrels of oil in the tar sands - the third largest producer of crude oil in the world.

We don't lose much sleep over how much oil the Middle East has.

Mark Prince won't be surrounded by fellow electric car commuters in the near future.

Depends on what stats you are looking at. I see Canada as sixth and the US as Third.

I also see the US as leaping ahead:

But it doesn't matter because it's all tied in to the Middle East and the Middle East. The Middle East can manipulate prices causing huge problems. They did this during the oil embargo - I don't really remember it myself - But they sort of shot themselves in the foot... Because of the oil embargo everyone in the US lost interest in big gas guzzling cars.
