Has Anyone Bought from Aliexpress.com Before?

Just bought a couple of Galaxy S5's.

Anyone bought from them before? :pimp

candyflip 06-27-2014 06:16 PM

Everyday. Literally. I buy and sell from there all day long.

The chinese units aren't bad, they don't usually work do US 4G though.

keysync 06-27-2014 06:17 PM

Yeah several times.
It's kinda nice how it's sort of an escrow type buying experience.
Your galaxy S5's will probably be shit though. Damn near everything electronic on there is very very poor quality.
or I have terrible luck buying electronics from there.

:Oh crap:Oh crap

candyflip 06-27-2014 06:36 PM

I buy in bulk, so I make sure I'm getting something decent beforehand.

It'd usually seconds quality, at least that's how I find most of the stuff that's intended for Chinese retail markets.

RyuLion 06-27-2014 06:38 PM

I used to buy in bulk also when ubid.com didn't suck. All products came from a warehouse here in the States (2001)

georgeyw 06-27-2014 06:40 PM

Have bought from there many times, just be 100% sure you are buying samsung and not some knock off version.

Alibaba is great for merchandise, ridiculous pricing.

Paul&John 06-28-2014 07:42 AM

I just bought a Lenovo mobile from there a few weeks ago and it turned out to be a fake one, also the specs aren't real.. it should be an octa-core with 1280x720 display and 8mpx camera, instead of that its only dual-core, shittier display and around 5mpx camera..

You just need to be a little cautious and also buy 1-2 pieces to see if it's real..

Yep, many times. No problems for me.

signupdamnit 06-28-2014 08:07 AM

I bought a replacement power jack for my sister's netbook in order to repair it. It was like $10 whereas the US suppliers wanted $50 and the netbook was worth maybe $100 at the most. They pretty much did what they were supposed to as the part worked and the item came via the China/Taiwan post. The only thing was that it took about a month to arrive.

Make sure you read reviews and only deal with REPUTABLE sellers
so much scamming and after inspection period . You are screwed

Exactly this one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Origi...813069375.html
Then I realized that it looks fake on the photos too :D (real lenovo's have a different middle button etc), but I didnt really cared unless the specs are the same as listed there.. but after downloading multiple apps for hardware identification it turned out to be a MT6572 instead of MTK6592 .. btw it was hidden in a pretty clever way...

I paid 120$ for the unit, so will try to get back at least half of it :)

Btw didnt had any problems with alibaba/express before, this is the first time.. also I buy small electronics usually at focalprice.com or dx.com

:Oh crap:Oh crap

US 4G LTE operates on a seperate band to the rest of the world.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 International 4G LTE phone unlocked before my last trip to the USA thinking I'd use ATT or SmartTalk (Same Network)

Could only get 3G coverage and found international standards do not apply to US 4G Phone network transmission bands.

They run differently paired frequencies.

Sorry but he's 100% correct unless you purchased US specific models you got yourself some expensive 3G phones.

For USA 4G LTE you need Band 4 1700/2100.

The Band 4 hardware is missing from the phones so you can't just do a rom upgrade to fix it.

If you check the models specs and see Band 4 1700/200 you're in luck.

Then just return them and get your money back.

I've bought two pairs of sunglasses and now I'm eyeing a Chinese tablet that seems very decent. My brother buys stuff from there all the time, mostly sports gear, a friend just bought some surfing gear that is at least 2 x more expensive here.

Just Alex 06-28-2014 12:38 PM

Never bought anything expensive there, just cheap stuff like cables, usb drives. How is quality of their phones and other electronics?

Sofar the phone is pretty decent, a little heavy but the build quality is nice.

EDIT: also at alibaba/express you can buy from multiple manufacturers/sellers.. so the quality is different... it's like ebay only without the second hand/used products :)

yuu.design 06-29-2014 07:44 AM

yeah, lots of things

It's not a fake. It's made for the Chinese or other "emerging" markets. It's not meant to be used or sold in the US (even though they can...to an extent.)

I have spent close to $50k in the past year buying shit to sell on AliExpress. They always take returns (or sometimes give you 50% refund and let you keep the item...if it's not IDENTICAL to what you ordered.)

You can buy, no worries.

The original looks like this:
http://www.gsmarena.com/lenovo_p780-5544.php

So it's a completely different product.. also the HW info is fake, you need to install Mobileuncle Tools to see the real values.. for example android shows octa-core (MT6592) where it is only dual-core (MT6572). Data from the Mobileuncle app:
ro.mediatek.platform = MT6572
ro.cputype.fake = MTK MT6592

I've downloaded AnTuTu and did a benchmark with it, which gives me a score what a dual-core should produce.. also the accessories shipped with it are cheap ones, without the Lenovo brand/logo anywhere on them.. not talking about the box in which it came :)

seeandsee 06-29-2014 09:28 AM

buying from dx.com and tinydeal.com for a long time without any problems!

freecartoonporn 06-29-2014 10:14 AM

Yep, many times.

once missed the parcel, got refund so no issues,

Again...just because it was made for another market does not mean it's a fake. Products for US market are often quite different from the US or EU counterparts.

Also, if the product is indeed counterfit, Aliexpress will give you a full refund and allow you to keep the item. This has happened to me once.

Yes I fully understand that design/looks etc can differ from market to market, but once again it has a shitter CPU a shittier display and a shittier camera as noted in the ali specs.. so it's fake :)

before ordering at dx (or pandawill.com), always ask live support do they really have item ready for shipping. Last time I was waiting for a phone for a month after I've sent money.

Dude. They are fakes. Sorry to burst your bubble. These are mostly sweat shops in china making fake shit. The alibaba factories are where fake Louis Vuitton and such come from to your local China town back alleys.

I buy and sell shit from there also. E-cig stuff, costume jewelry etc.

Just so you understand..

Rolex doesnt make this watch.

You're not bursting my bubble. I've bought and sold a ton of Aliexpress electronics, with no complaints.

The three items you posted have been the 3 most notoriously knocked off items in history. That doesn't mean that everything else sold on there is fake. Again, this stuff is NOT meant for the US market. Some times it's "seconds" quality, some time there are differences.

Any of the "Beats" products you find on there can be returned to Walmart for full credit. I was curious at one point, gave this a try and it worked.

You are delusional. What you did was scam wal-mart. They are not REAL beats on there. They are fake. Just because Walmart took them back because they have 6 dollar an hour workers doesnt mean anything. Do it 10 times and see if it works. Let me know when you need to get bailed out of jail you idiot. You are dumb as fuck do you realize that? Is the chinese guy on the other end of the line the one telling its its 'not for american market'. You sound like you have the common sense of an apple right now. THEY ARE KNOCKS OFFS, FAKES, BOGUS, FUGAZZI's.

The stupidity is mind blowing. Take one of your 20 dollars beats. Take it to Best Buy. Put it next to REAL Beats. And tell me if they are the same. They dont sound the same, they dont look the same, they dont work the same. I have baught and sold a shitload of Beats from AliBaba. None of them have even been close to the real thing. Except the box.

Ok. I am trying to convince an idiot on gfy. Thats where I went wrong in the first place. I should have just laughed at your and moved on.

Chris 06-30-2014 09:05 AM

the s5's will be fake. They wil llook real but the OS and hardware will be bad clones
