will revenge porn laws end porn?

One presumes that even a model who signed a model release could turn around and say she wants the content removed.

Sites such as watchersweb are full of content posted by couples. If later they break up, then the girl (or boy) could say they gave no permission and get there ex prosecuted even if they agreed to it in the first place.

If you have the proper docs for the content it would be impossible for her to refute she never gave permission.

By consent, they are saying consensually between boyfriend / girlfriend. They are not talking about 2 people entering into a binding contract.

NO THEY ARE NOT, can you not read ? dyslexia is not the excuse, your brain is fucked. The images can be OBTAINED consensually, but they can't be published without consent:

"He said: "We need to make a criminal sanction available when people share indecent images in the knowledge that consent would not have been given."

Even in the event of a randy couple publishing their stuff on a website it would be obvious that at the time it was done consensually by both parties.

I doubt there's actually many genuine cases of this sort of thing in the UK, and if there is it's probably already covered in existing laws but it's just another handy piece of crap legislation that can be adapted for more sinister reasons further down the line.

A lot of people in the world apparently possess not a shred of a clue as to what "revenge porn" is.

ilnjscb 07-02-2014 11:16 AM

Modeling images covered by contract are not going to be affected unless the content is deemed illegal. There is a big difference between implied or verbal consent and a modeling release. A large part of paid modeling, whether anyone likes to admit it, is amateurs taking nudes. Millions of those are taken every year. No law is going to criminalize the display of those photos; that wouldn't just kill porn, it would kill modeling.

"The sad truth is that most of the photographers who I worked with were usually men with lucrative jobs who were willing to heavily invest in their “new photography hobby.” Their photos were unfailingly amateur and cheesy, but they were always the ones willing to pay my $150 flat rate for three hours of shooting. During those shoots I always felt like a piece of meat: they most likely booked me just to spend time with a naked girl. Don’t misunderstand, not all of the photographers operated like this; some were very talented and I was deeply honored to work with them. But the large majority of them were creeps"

Interesting point. I believe the website needs to solicit for money in order to be to "revenge porn" - laws will vary by state.

I hate when they call it porn. It's not porn, its humiliating people with a little extortion thrown in.

DerekMister33 07-05-2014 02:35 PM

Yes it will end porn. Sky is falling run.

Why even question it? If a model wants her content removed, remove it. You'll sleep better, avoid any legal problems and most of all you will be doing her a big favour.

That's typically what we have done. Lawyers have advised us to not offer them to buy it back, as it may be construed as extortion.

so you shoot a model over several days, pay her, pay for the studio and travel.

you spend days editing the pics.

she then asks for the pics to be removed. so are you really just going to remove them?
