Classic music? While that is played with classic instrument,it belong to music niche "movie soundtracks".Classic music is something like Mozard,Bethoveen,Chopin,etc...

"Movie soundtrack" isn't a genre though.

That is a classical sample. Whether it's in a movie or not surely... :2 cents:

Scott McD 07-15-2014 12:17 PM

Ok let's do it the other way then.

Post your funeral song :1orglaugh

Choopa_Pardo 07-15-2014 12:21 PM

Movie Scores are certainly a genre within themselves. No matter.

MaDalton 07-15-2014 12:25 PM

just because this was written for a movie and not 200 years ago, it doesn't mean it is not classical music

Believe it or not, when I was about 20/21 I loved classical. I listened to it all the time - The louder the better!

Now, I cant stand it... :(

dready 07-15-2014 01:17 PM

More jazz than classical, but love this band:

It is not, just based on it.Same as rock is based on blues.Another example, where classical musician plays rock/techo/etc songs on their classical instruments, then it is called crossover.

The marriage of Figaro by Mozart with Maria Calas

John-ACWM 07-16-2014 01:24 AM

Great soundtrack, movie! (Mel Gibson did a great job. And won two Oscars for it)

Klen 07-16-2014 01:56 AM

Also, there is one video on youtube which was arrangement of classic/non-classical music and it best arrangement which i ever heard. But for some reason author removed video, but i managed to pick out info about songs from archive.org(had bookmarked url)
but it is simply not same when listening songs individually.Who would say how arrangement can make such a powerful effect.
Here is the list:
Secret Garden - Nocturne 0:00 - 1:07 (original version)
Pietro Mascagni - Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana 1:08 - 2:05
Max Steiner - Theme from a 'Summer Place' (Percy Faith and His Orchestra) 2:06 - 2:49
Henry Mancini - Days of Wine and Roses 2:50 - 3:32
Tan Dun - For the world (From Jet Li - Hero) 3:33 - 4:11
Thomas Newman - Whisper of a Thrill (From Meet Joe Black) 4:12 - 4:54
Claude Debussy - Clair de lune 4:55 - 5:45
Thomas Newman - Any Other Name 5:46 - 6:27
Edward Elgar - Salut d amour 6:28 - 7:22
Giacomo Puccini - O Mio Babbino Caro 7:23 - 8:26
Glenn Miller - Moonlight Serenade 8:27 - 9:36
Franz Schubert - Ave Maria 9:37 - 10:31
Maksim - Claudine 10:32 - 11:47
Enya - Caribbean Blue 11:48 - 12:22
Michael Nyman - The heart asks Pleasure First/The Promise 12:23 - 13:05
Gheorghe Zamfir - The lonely Shepherd 13:06 - 14:08
