For the first time in history, a program discloses the real stats of its bitcoin sales!

Ok so in the first few days, we had a grand total of: zero sales from Bitcoin, Litecoin or Dogecoin. The regular customers simply continue to use credit cards, prepaid voucher and such as before.

We only added coins in the buy page, no special announcements across our site, and we did not wrote anything in coin forums or reddits yet... on purpose, so to check if our userbase had any coin. It seems not, this was expected.

A comparison: as soon as Epoch added support of PayPal (for euro users only, to euro companies as ours only), we had lots of people starting to use it, and still using, as much as Mastercard for Euro users. Some was a switch from card to paypal, and others was completely new sales: users who sort of waited paypal and would not use cards.

I think that with bitcoin press releases and bitcoin forum posts, reaching the coin guys, some will come to spend some on the site, even just to support whatever site embraces the coin religion. If that's it, the coin sales come from coin niche of traffic, not from (adult) mainstream traffic. I'll take the time to announce this in coin places next week.

Let the coins become mainstream in future, then you'll get coin sales from mainstream traffic - and no chargebacks or "high risk fees"! I really think in a far future some coins will be mainstream, it's cute and logic.
Coin volume sales for gambling, betting exists today, just I am skeptic on certain press releases claiming volume coin sales for adult sites today. Unless you're the official adult site for coin forums, that's $8 billion market cap of bitcoin, some bitcoin millionaire may spend some in adult sites rather than hoard and daily trade, I can't tell yet.

PS: introducing coins sales and having a PPS option for affiliates it is risky for the program, in fact an affiliate could do accounts and anonymously pay small items with coins to collect the higher PPS payouts in fiat dollars, profiting on the difference. But still, a PPS affiliate doing all sales from coins users will be easy to spot as unlikely real.

No one crypt sale yet. I've posted in bitcoin and litecoin forum yesterday, got some comments about the girls being hot, but no one gave even a single coin cent to them :)

Very nice - good luck with it. :)

Famemonster 08-07-2014 02:51 PM

Good luck, I am glad to see bitcoin is becoming more popular in the adult industry.

Popular in the industry = sites adding bitcoin payment pages. It could even be every adult site will support bitcoin, for example verotel supports bitcoin so whoever uses verotel also supports bitcoin.
But I don't see customers paying with bitcoin a reality. Perhaps lots of people know what bitcoin is, but only so few got any bitcoin for real. And those few who got bitcoin, do not use it to buy services, they just hoard, short sell/trade, gamble.

coin bandwagon does not pay :)

That really sounds about right. People just buy/sell them hoping to make a profit. BTC is a stock, it's not a currency and never will be because it's too volatile. Why on earth would I spend my BTC on a laptop from some online store or on a membership to a porn site when that same btc in a 2 weeks might be worth twice as much out of nowhere and for no reason at all?

The *ONLY* advantage to adding BTC to a site, imho, is for the press release. For instance, I could add btc support to our tube script, and it would be a great excuse to make a press release - but not one of you will make so much as a dime from that functionality.

Not sure when the money showed in my account , if finally did . I would say at least a good 10 minutes . bitcoin should be like cc almost instantly , if it is not you have settings wrong somewhere . I was just testing the site but most guys are there for quick release and don't wanna wait 10 minutes for it to load . I will tip it out to one of the girls , but you might wanna check your settings ....good luck with it .

Barry-xlovecam 08-08-2014 08:55 AM

So, besides this one test sale?

I am guessing the lag may be on the processing end funding/approval...

Thanks for your bitcoin sale, that was the first, and for now the only one we got.

Bitcoin it is not a realtime verification system... unlike credit cards, it takes 8-10 minutes per block to be verified:

https://blockchain.info/charts/avg-confirmation-time

I think gocoin waits 1 or 2 blocks... you can't be sure the transaction is real until it shown in 5-6 blocks, that's an hour of wait time.

BTC transfers are not instant, they are only instant when you buy and sell them on an exchange within that exchange. Transfering wallet to wallet takes 10 minutes-ish.

yay... goes with the back to school period :)

Nothing else. I posted the announce in bitcoin and litecoin forums, got hundreds of views but no one sale. Just this one sale from the gfy user beenthereb4, who is the bitcoin hero :)

Will you write in the press: "We just added btc support to our tube scriptm but not one of you will make so much as a dime from that functionality." ? :)

Breaking news: today we had the second bitcoin sale, a $20 from some guy. Added to the $10 from the gfy guy who tested, we scored a grand total of $30 sales in the first 30 days since we supported bitcoin. No litecoin or dogecoin sales happened yet.

Would be interesting if any other program would publish their bitcoin sales. I guess I know why they don't.

Barry-xlovecam 08-14-2014 01:01 PM

Thanks for the update (<rolls eyes>).

Not worth the time to set up accepting a rare alternative payment type is nothing new. When a payment type is less 0.1% of sales it's not relevant to a merchant.

Actually, transactions propagate throughout the network pretty quick (a matter of seconds). It takes 10 minutes (on average) for a block to get found, and blocks are where the transactions get permanently recorded. It's up to the user to determine the level of risk they are willing to take on when waiting for confirmations. If it's just over a cup of coffee, a 0-conf tx is probably good enough; if it's something more valuable, maybe you want to wait for a confirmation or two; if it's a house, you should definitely wait for 6 or more confirmations. The reason you want to wait for multiple confirmations (or blocks built on top of the history that includes your transaction) is because they represent a certain amount of hard work; work that would have to be re-done by a would-be attacker. It's cost prohibitive to mine an alternate chain of blocks just reverse a single transaction, so it's generally unheard of.
