The Rockford Files was one of my fav shows too.

Was a great show, great actor, R.I.P

The son of an Oklahoma carpet layer, James Garner (born James Scott Bumgarner) dropped out of high school at 16 to join the Merchant Marines. He worked in a variety of jobs and received 2 Purple Hearts when he was wounded twice during the Korean War.

Rockford was so much a part of my childhood, Garner was awesome and underrated.

And for me THE BEST THEME MUSIC IN TV HISTORY is the theme from The Rockford Files.

Don't forget "Support Your Local Sheriff" and "Support Your Local Gunfighter". I grew up watching TCM and whenever these came on, my family would crowd around, watch and laugh.

R.I.P. indeed to PI Rockford. I remember Garner from Support Your Local Sheriff, Skin Game, Murphy's Romance, The Great Escape and Victor/Victoria. All throughout my childhood he was "there".

OH and Space Cowboys heheh.

Hope he keeps up his uniqueness wherever he is.

RIP James Garner.

I grew up with Rockford files............ however, I always confused James Garner with Rock Hudson. I have no idea why, so later I thought James Garner is gay.

I met James Garner once and we chatted for about ten minutes or so. He seemed like an ordinary guy...with a subtle sense of humor.
