I never would've thought Robin would kill himself. Crazy shit.
I wonder what his good buddy Billy Crystal is feeling about all this.

Mine is HOOK

The Angriest Man in Brooklyn - when I watched it I somehow sensed that he is angry/sad not only in a movie. Even if not, it is some interesting coincidence that he was suffering from depression and that his last role was kind of along those lines.

RebelR 08-12-2014 10:42 AM

I was more a fan of his 80's stand up, but the ones that stick out most for me are: Good Morning Vietnam, Moscow on the Hudson, and the one my wife can't make it through without crying, What Dreams May Come. I'll also throw in the movie Jumanji too, he was great in it.

Tam 08-12-2014 10:43 AM

I loved so many of his movies - he was always in such unique and varied roles... but a couple of my very top favorites were Patch Adams and The World According to Garp - those I watched more than just about any of them - My kids always loved Mrs Doubtfire and I had to watch that one at least 900 times. lol

That wasn't his last role. We'll see him at least 4 more times over the next year.

Good Morning Vietnam

pornlaw 08-12-2014 11:54 AM

Good Morning Vietnam is one of my favorite movies... I got to meet the real Adrian Cronaeur.

In college I DJed at WVAU, the student radio station at AU where Cronaeur DJed before going off to Vietnam in the early 60s. I got to meet Cronaeur my freshman year at the station. Williams played him way over the top. Interestingly Cronaeur and Williams never met before the movie was made.

Barry Levinson the film's director knew Cronaeur at AU when they were both students there...

iSpyCams 08-12-2014 12:08 PM

So many of his movies are great. I'll be doing a marathon shortly.

michael.kickass 08-12-2014 01:06 PM

Still having a hard time believing this guy killed himself. One of my favs is definitely 'Dead Poets Society'

LeRoy 08-12-2014 01:18 PM

I liked the funny movies

Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji , Popeye and Cadillac Man

Klen 08-12-2014 01:20 PM

I wonder will national tv organize a tv marathon with his movies. They sometime do that when some actor dies.

DWB 08-12-2014 01:42 PM

What Dreams May Come is my favorite.

Ironically, his wife in that movie committed suicide.

mineistaken 08-12-2014 02:13 PM

Nobody mentioned Good Will hunting? I can not trust anyones taste if he/she does not include it in at least top3 of movies with Robin Williams :)

Watched for 10 minutes and decided I can not take it anymore. It is just genuinely disgusting to see men dressed and acting as women. :2 cents:

My favorite movies with this great actor are Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, Hook. Well, good old times.

RIP

Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society... and his one episode turn on Law & Order SVU.

TrashyGirl 08-12-2014 05:56 PM

I liked his comedic roles, but he also did some darker roles that showed a different facet of his acting abilities...

good morning vietnam, dead poets society, and patch adams :)

BlackCrayon 08-12-2014 06:34 PM

so many but one that wasn't mentioned yet, awakenings, jack.

SilentKnight 08-12-2014 07:39 PM

Both Good Will Hunting and What Dreams May Come are my favorites.

I'll be watching them both again shortly.

He was such a talented, versatile man - almost impossible to imagine he was both Mork from Ork - and then later played the shrink in Good Will Hunting...total opposite ends of the spectrum.

Supz 08-12-2014 08:15 PM

How did I know it would be the gay one.

Um... You work in the adult industry?

Mutt 08-12-2014 09:45 PM

Hardly anybody mentions Moscow on the Hudson, he was great in it and the film was kind of important sociologically and politically. He played a Russian circus performer or musician who defected to the USA on a tour. This used to happen regularly back during the Cold War, and took huge balls. The scene where he visits his first American supermarket and he's overwhelmed by the quantity and variety of things on the shelves, he has a panic attack. I'd heard the story before from Soviets who defected.

I wasn't a big fan of his standup comedy and neither were other standup comics, he 'borrowed' lots of material. He acknowledged it himself, saying it was never intentional, his mind was like a sponge taking in everything. He was a great comedic and dramatic actor.

That movie is fantastic, and really fucked with my head in a way that I don't need to talk about here.

His funny stuff always had me in stitches, including his last series, "The Crazy Ones". But nothing of his impacted me like "What Dreams May Come".

For some reason Rochard has been on the super gay agenda the last year or so. Not sure if its for attention or that hes just gay. But it seems pretty intentional if you ask me.
