Sarah Palin: ?Eat Less Chinese Food? to Reduce Trade Deficit

Sarah Palin has asked Americans to reduce the trade deficit by eating less Chinese food.

In an interview on Fox News this morning, the former Alaska governor claimed that our growing trade deficit with China has become a national security risk and outlined her strategy for reversing the trend.

?We need to quit eating so much darn Chinese food,? she told Fox and Friends? Steve Doocy. ?Don?t Americans realize that the Chinese are taking too much of our money already?

?Every time I go to Wal-Mart all I see are ?Made in China? labels. Toys. Televisions. Those things you screw into the ceiling to make light come out. Everything is made over there nowadays.

?It's hard to find American-made televisions. But can?t we go without Chinese take-out? There are so many good, old-fashioned American choices out there. Ever heard of pizza??

The United States has had a trade deficit with China for decades, as its consumer-driven economy devoured China?s cheap manufactured goods.

The deficit with China hit a record $318 billion last year as a recovering economy pushed U.S. imports higher.

Not included in those statistics, however, are sales made at Chinese restaurants in the United States. Because these businesses are typically locally owned and use locally sourced ingredients, eating Chinese food has a negligible impact on the U.S.?s balance of trade.

This seemingly obvious fact was not lost on Doocy, who attempted to alert Palin to her mistake.

?Sarah, you know I love you,? he remarked, ?but Chinese restaurants are part of the local economy. The food doesn?t actually come from China.?

?Steve, that?s ridiculous,? Palin replied. ?Why is it called Chinese food if it doesn?t come from China??

Palin served as governor of Alaska from 2006 to 2009. She was the Republican Party?s candidate for vice president in 2008.

She might be on to something.
Look how much she has done to Obama by not eating collard greens.

There's a big fucking problem when people start mixing satire in with real news. That's one thing the dumb fucks in 'Merica did before the elections. A huge portion of Americans thought Sarah Palin and Tina Fey were the same fucking person (they went as far as reporting that Sarah Palin made comments that Tina Fey did as a joke on Saturday Night Live).

And I seriously want to puke every time a person posts a quote or video from the Daily Show or some other faux news reporting show on COMEDY CENTRAL! If you get your news from Comedy Central then you got some serious issues, bubba. Serious issues.

It makes as much sense as the tools that suggest the ice bucket challenge is affecting the drought . . . the scary part is how many of you seem to believe she said it.

While I try to buy American products, I think I disagree with this trade deficit.

In the event we go to war with China, who is going to benefit from this deficit - and who is going to gain?

Let's say we go to war with China. The very first thing that happens is ALL trade stops. Production all across China stops - can't ship products - and suddenly we have billions in China unemployed. On the other hand here in the US we suddenly run out of products - And Americans are forced to make it themselves. New companies spring up to fill the gaps, and unemployment in the US becomes non existent.

Am I completely wrong here?

But the funny part is that she's said so many OTHER off-the-wall things that many have no trouble believing she said this.

Definitely an onionesque piece in a long line of such pieces designed to mock her. No sane person would spew such nonsense (you'd think), especially since all those "Chinese takeout" places she's talking about are all to a one American-based businesses, owned by americans, asian or otherwise, who pay taxes in the USA.

Certainly no polititian who was 'this' close to being VP of the entire nation would be so confoundedly dense as to insinuate such businesses are the main problem fueling the US-China trade deficit. Or could she? :D

during the korean war, china was fond of using these dudes as soldiers, and sending them against western lines armed with a sword, a grenade, or nothing

seems ridiculous, but was so effective, the western military ended up requesting 58 nuclear strikes leading into mainland china.. and was denied.

Grapesoda 08-20-2014 11:17 AM

fuck! it was that simple and we never knew?

The guy from modern family (forgot his name) replied back with a pic of trumps clothing line. Where do you think its made? Lol. Right on the tag. "Made in China"

the reason people believe she actually said dumb shit like that, is because in reality she actually says dumb shit like that.

No, the scary part is no one would be surprised if she really said it and people like you tried to vote the dumb bitch into the nation's second ranking office. Just one heart beat away from running this country.
