If Time Travel Was A Reality What Would Be Your First Choice - Back or Forward?
And what year would you set the dial to?
|
Back.
Right back to the start. Then we'll see which one of the religious cunts is right. EDIT: If any of course. |
The real question should be; what would be the ideal time to time travel back to or forward to, if you could only go one way?
The answers are endless, "I want to travel back to when Jesus was born" Well, what could happen there? You go back 2014 years and find out he never existed? He did exist but was a fraud, or, he was right? Then what? Can you travel back to now to tell everyone? Or can you then go forward to see if Mohammed was real and if Islam really is the last prophet? Too many questions, ergo..... Aliens. |
I would go about 20 years in the future then checkout all the stock prices.
Find penny stocks to buy into, then other better stocks. Then go back to the present...and do the obvious |
For me forward.
There's precious little from the past that I can't rationalize, that reasonable answers don't exist or that interest me enough to care. Caveat, your fast forward machine should land me on a survivable planet if earth is gone...with ladies and bacon. |
Oh shit... without even a second of hesitation... THE PAST. And that's even taking into account that I would be doing so and NOT being armed with the knowledge of knowing what plays out over the years.
I'd be a kid in the mid 1950s. If I went back the age I am now, it would be in the mid 1960s. |
Easy.
Go back 20 years and register credit.com, creditcards.com, insurance.com, sex.com, porn.com, etc. On Second thought, I could go forward a hundred years but who knows if I find myself in the middle of a planet Earth that was invaded by an alien lifeform and enslaved all humans and they fked up my time machine really bad with bats. It'd be safer to go to the past. |
I'd go back to April 12, 1976 and buy Ronald Wayne's shares in Apple for $800.
|
There's a higher level of safety in going back in time. You know exactly what to expect and can take the necessary clothing and currency with you. The chances of your cover being blown is very low.
The risk in going forward increases with the time span. You can probably pull off 50 years into the future without drawing too much unwanted attention to yourself, but going ahead 1,000 years is going to be extremely dangerous. Everyone is going to know there is something very wrong about you.... your ancient clothing, outdated english, no valid money, etc... But that problem aside, it would be hugely beneficial to go forward if only for the medical treatments. Go ahead 3,000 years and they can cure your ailments and give you your 20-year-old body back. |
Forward! I'll take the chance of whatever is going on, just to experience it and possibly live thru it.

As soon as one person went back in time, everything as we knew it would change so the real adventure would be staying right here.
Assuming that ANYTHING that happened before photographs, newspapers or moving pictures did actually happen in the first place of course..... |

Forwards, I just want to know what happens!
|
Go forward, going back and doing things could unravel my time machine or even myself from happening. I think.
|
Back to the 70's :thumbsup

Future.
Jet packs. Immortal medical tech. Commercial space travel. |
I would hit future!

I want to time travel in the future. Maybe 3-4 years from now...
|
Can we go AND COME BACK TO "NOW"?
If we are going and STAYING then the past (cause I would RULE). If we can come back to "now" then future. Get some knowledge of the future then come back to now to exploit it, be rich and RULE. Besides, if I can fucking time travel then I SHOULD fucking rule, no? :D |

Now think that some foreigner would come to your country, talk some weird shit and would want to rule. Would it work? |
Sorry to be boring, but time travel is possible today.
If you get on a plane and go around the world, you do go forward in time. http://www.news.com.au/technology/ti...-1225861418565 http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/physicists-...o-past-1453839 |

15k y back to see what actually was this civilization which falls and left us wonder how some monuments was build (sphinx, some pyramids some walls blocks with weight 100k tons stuff like this - we do not have clear answer how it was build no matter how hard logically scientist is trying to explain this, i believe it was anti-grav technology and i wanna see civilization who utilised this).
|
i would go back and become filthy rich :)

Anyay - with the knowledge from the future, you could definitely attempt to rule even different (but same race) country. |

Yeah, that knowledge thing is great fantasy, but in reality it wouldn't be that easy. There would be already established power structures and usually people tend to cling to the power. Instead of cheering your wisdom the king or whatever may just behead you as a dangerous rivalry. Also at the times of inherited positions, your knowledge doesn't matter that much anyways. You are just some bastard like many other. |
ill take it back to 96
|
forward, you cant do anything about the past :2 cents:
|
Time travel is only possible to the "future". You cannot travel backwards in time and never will be able to. :2 cents:
|
the future
|
I get the novelty of it all but physics prevents you from going back and as for going forward...you already are make the most of it

You really only need to go forward a month or two. All the sports bets, all stock movement. You'd have to stay within a short time span. Sports bets are pretty easy to multiply fast when you absolutely know the outcome. Do your sports bets the first week. Roll it over into buying whatever stocks have a big increase over the rest of the month. If done right can be set for life in a month or two and it will all look like a run of good luck. :winkwink: |

Kind of a cheesy kind of time travel - much easier I think for us to figure out how to freeze people and then awaken them in the future. His scenario is some epic disaster that destroys humanity where these time travellers would return to Earth to repopulate it. If I were on that spaceship I'd want no part of that job, starting human civilization from scratch in god knows what kind of environment the planet would be in would be a nightmare. I still really don't have a handle on the concept of 'time' the way physicists think of it. To me it's man made concept, we decided one revolution of the earth, sunrise to sunrise, is one day/24 hours. That time is slower/faster for different observers doesn't seem like such a major scientific breakthrough to me but when I read about Einstein's theories of relativity it's lauded as an incredible leap forward that we've reaped a ton of technological advancements from. |
I would go back to any time prior to 1969... So I could have met my father. He died when I was nine months old.
