It's a magic box with a window, and people live inside.

Agree. Stupid as hell, but surprisingly fun and entertaining. Watched it twice. It sounds and feels like Transformers, but with worse acting and an AC/DC soundtrack.

I agree...

I liked Battleship some. Gave it a 6/10 on IMDB. Wait, I thought you didn't like fiction? :D

You'd get way more entertainment mileage out of that book I told you about.

right on !

2MuchMark 09-07-2014 06:18 PM

Wish I had seen it in IMAX when it came out.... The VFX must be amazing on the big screen... and imagine Battleship with 50,000 watts of IMAX Sound... just that would be worth the ticket price alone.

John-ACWM 09-08-2014 02:37 AM

Saw it and I only remember it had Liam Neeson in it.

Don't feed the TV people.

It's no masterpiece, but I like watching shit blow up -- so I enjoyed it.

When it comes to books...I do not care much for fiction...but it is difficult to choose to watch a non fiction movie...since they are primarily fiction...and even those that proclaim to be true stories...usually take liberties with "creative license".

But without all the fast moving CGI closeups that make up 90% of the movie, to give you the impression of intense action while making it impossible to tell what is actually happening.

Agreed: Simple but enjoyable.

True. The extreme close-ups in Transformers were just... weird. It was so much detail in some scenes that it became noise.

I thought I had lowered my expectations appropriately the second I saw Rihanna was one of the stars, but two grueling hours later, I understood that I would only have found the time well spent way back before I stopped using drugs.
