I thought by law at least 10% had to be spent on the cause.. I guess not. If so many politicians and rich folk didn't hide/launder their money this way something might be done about it.

NatalieK 09-15-2014 11:21 AM

Interested to know the total amounts raised.

Real awful news for so little to go to charity though :(

so·lic·it
verb \sə-ˈli-sət\

: to ask for (something, such as money or help) from people, companies, etc.

: to ask (a person or group) for money, help, etc.

: to offer to have sex with (someone) in return for money

as the name implies :D

As far as I know there is no law about it. Khloe Kardashian and her then husband Lamar Odom started a charity and raised over $2 million dollars for it. The only thing it ever got spent on was a couple of basketball teams he sponsored. ESPN did a big story about how none of the money was ever actually spent on charity.

_Richard_ 09-15-2014 03:09 PM

charity is a big dirty business.

edit: that being said, quick google search will show you charities that have low admin

mineistaken 09-15-2014 03:19 PM

Yeah, although its funny how charities are almost "mandatory" in the states for rich people. Example - Jobs did not donate to charity and he was disliked for that.
Charities is like a cult, if you are famous you "must" donate to charitie in order to keep your image.
Ridiculous. Many of the people do much more (example create many jobs) anyway..

dehash 09-15-2014 05:16 PM

I will never donate any money. I mentioned earlier my wife is trying to get CPA and provided same info to me few month ago. Just greedy fuckers covering with bright ideas. They will burn in hell :trollface

Most of them are donating to charities of their own affiliation. These days the charities are becoming trust funds. They setup the charity, donate their money to it tax free, coerce others to do a good deed of donating to their chairty and then pay themselves and/or their family yearly salaries for as long as they can keep up the charade.

Jobs cannot be created unless they bring some actual value.

How does that contradict my statement?
I obviously agree with your statement.

The American Cancer Society is real disappointing - 40% of the billions they raise go to administrative costs.

I don't give to these type of charities. There should be a crowd funding medical research site where researchers could go and say we need a million dollars to do whatever they want to do, tell people why their research is important, what the money will be spent on - not a penny spent on adminstrative/fund raising.

Yes but people constantly scream how jobs need to be created like doing that is by creating some magical button which just need to be pressed to make it work.
