Tim Ferris: BS or not?

So here's an enticing article: http://fourhourworkweek.com/2013/10/...es/#more-10889

And everything is so positive like a free hooker, but when I go check alibaba.com the glasses are $12 each http://www.alibaba.com/product-detai...621058661.html

Of course he is telling us that when its not hot anymore, it means tho the business is over...

WTF generally? Another How to get rich quick?

Listen to his podcasts... he has a lot of cool ideas. 4 hour Work Week is not meant to be taken literally as something you can do right off the bat. It's about creating many income streams over a long period of time to get yourself to a point where you only work a few hours a week.

His philosophy is the antithesis of get rich quick schemes. All he talks about is putting in hard work and finding ways to maximize time efficiency.

I see, so BS.

Him and others like him sell the dream to people who don't really have what it takes to make shit happen. That's all they are buying, a reassurance of their dream. However, 99.9999% of them will never make it happen or will quit as soon as they realize they will not get instantly rich.

Several years ago I read a lot of Tim Ferris and Ramit Sethi. Both of their insights have changed the way I look at and do things. Both have very cool approaches.

Well, he's featuring a sample of a postman / climber who sorta managed to run a profitable 4k/mo goal off the thin air . . . that is sorta BS i mean.

Fuck you, okay? Relate your aggression to your wife.

How is the story BS? It's not meant to be a "hot business idea" for you to copy, it's an example of how someone can sell a product that solves a problem and make a livable income.

If you don't think someone can make $4k/mo selling a product online that they would personally use, I'm curious how you actually make a living.

As for the product being available for cheap on alibaba.com, it wouldn't be the first time a cheap product was repackaged and sold as a more expensive niche item.

When his book the 4 Hour Work Week came out it was a very different world. Basically it was taking "traditional jobs" and learning how to outsource most of it so that it freed your time up to do other things...it also was big on using the "virtual office" and again, remember that this was sort of a "new" concept with the web/internet/email themselves being rather new.

Most of the things in that book are out dated and he morphed himself into a sort of "motivational speaker" more than anything else. Selling a dream that really doesn't exist any longer.

You really don't think that lifestyle is possible? And you're posting here? :error

He is a cross between Tony Robbins and Don Lapre. His blog is definitely a type of porn for people (usually broke and unskilled) who dream of running their own business.

I find it to be mildly amusing at times, but I'm not a frequent viewer.

He is VERY smart. Just watch some of his videos on youtube.
