This makes it even more impressive. Not just a couple of modern chips connected to a few nixies. That box would be literally full of vaccuum tubes.

Just a side note. In case of a high-altitude nuclear explosion, the EMR will burn out all those iPhones and other devices that use microchips and semi-conductors. Every unprotected electronic device will literally die, and only those tube clocks will remain fully functional :pimp
