Your favorite music genre - NOT Artist - genre

I LOVE 70s music - I know I just dated myself and that's fine, but I love that genre - 70s R&B - Motown - Soul - great fucking music - they just don't do it like that anymore.

I like all kinds and all genres - but this is hands down my favorite!

brassmonkey 10-03-2014 07:16 PM

NatalieK 10-03-2014 07:17 PM

Rochard 10-03-2014 07:49 PM

That free rent in your head is still feeling pretty good - and letting others off the hook a bit - thanks for that - it's a little low rent though. :thumbsup

I love all types of music --- 50's & 60's classic rock, 70's classic rock, 80's rock, even some 90's stuff of that genre is worth listening to. :D

Okay my music tastes run a whole lot broader than that, but you did ask for the favorite.

Yeah same here - I have a lot of ones I very much like, but my favorite is always a default to 70s music - it's just peaceful and easy music and isn't too complicated - but incredibly good music in that genre.

I have a hard time with what's my favorite too - it largely depends on my mood, the mood I need to be in, timing and other things - lol

Yeah you are probably right - I guess I used the wrong word there - era would have been better for what I was thinking I guess - but what I basically meant was not one specific artist because the majority of us couldn't do that if our lives depended on it. lol

That's actually easy.

I'd go with the artist/band I've:

1) Spent the most money on over the years (albums, cassettes, CDs, concerts, t-shirts)
2) Listened to the most over the years.
3) Read any article, interview, documentary, no matter how trivial.
4) Stop whatever I'm doing if their newest album release is on the radio.

That'd be Van Halen for me.

sinclair 10-05-2014 08:59 AM

thanks

honnestly it doesn't sound really different that metal for me...

Tam 10-06-2014 08:13 AM

I think I have aged myself pretty good this time, I've never heard of some of these, sludge, post rock and others - but I am going to look into them and see what's up - so thanks for sharing - I am always in the mood to check out new music and styles -

When I was growing up we had a very limited line of what was what and it was pretty clear cut - R&B - Easy Listening - Pop - Rock - and now there are so many spider veins branching out from all of these - it's interesting for sure.

rhon23 10-06-2014 08:21 AM

punk rock with a splash of goth a bit of ska some oi and hardcore

I listen to a lot of different genres, if I had to pick one: Pink Floyd (yes it's indeed a genre of its own).
