Do you use mobile redirection on your sites?

It is a good source of income, but do you normally use it on your websites these days. I think there is a big trade off to it too, as it probably has a big negative effect on Google / search engine traffic, I think.

It makes good money, but it is a little bit like spam...

Pressure has been put on sites with what Google is calling "faulty redirects". These occur when a user on a mobile device requests a desktop page linked to on Google and is instead redirected to the site's mobile homepage. According to Brian Klais, CEO of Pure Oxygen Labs (a mobile marketing firm), retailers with faulty redirects will suffer in their Google rankings. Google recommends webmasters follow the industry best practice of using responsive web design, namely serving the same HTML for all devices and using only CSS media queries to decide the rendering on each device.

Personally, I am in the process of converting everything porn and not to responsive.

Mobile redirect and in general separating mobile traffic is a thing from the past, with the way things are going (at least in western countries), most of the traffic will be from tablets and smart phones so unless you want to have your page for the minority of users better go responsive.

One bad thing with a lot of old mobile sites is that they aren't built for modern day smartphones (hell even the w3c mobile checker is outdated!). they serve pages which are not worthy of current smart phones not to mention tablets. This is another grave stupidity - serving a page for outdated mobile phones on a modern day tablet! Loads of sites with their own mobile version do that.

If you look at your stats and you think that you have just a wee bit mobile so it doesn't matter that much, chances are your mobile and tablet traffic is that low because you can't serve those visitors properly and they go somewhere else.

Dogfart are one of the sponsors that realized that and are embracing the future, they even started building responsive hosted galleries!

Yes I do too!.. no problems will use "responsive" in some cases I think too
maybe not either/or but both depends on site.

Mobile redirection is the best way to monetize and xxx site. I would recommend using several ad networks at the same time (chaining websites / redirect urls). Use the following ones:

Plugrush -> Juicy Ads -> Sex Goes Mobile

Redirecting my mobile was my number one money maker. That being said. All of my sites that had the mobile redirect on them go penilized by google and delisted for sneaky redirects.
I removed the code and then submitted a reconsideration request. After a week they listed my sites again.
I just use ads and popunders now. If anyone has a different way to do this without getting penalized by google please let us know.

It's true that Google doesn't like if you redirect all your traffic, that why you could also use pops. In this way you will keep Google sort of satisfied and you are able to monetize your traffic. Best thing is of course to place some banners or place once and a while a 'site take over'
If you need a good partner to convert your mobile traffic, check out my sig! We can help you with the whole set up!
