Do any of you use your computer

...in safe mode. If so how frequently? I usually work in safe mode when using certain software as it is much faster.

freecartoonporn 10-15-2014 03:12 AM

when something goes s wrong and windows doesnt boot up in regular mode

wehateporn 10-15-2014 03:20 AM

AdultKing 10-15-2014 03:45 AM

Safe mode must be some stupid Windows thing, kind of like training wheels on a wheelchair.

That is why all your websites, are in 16bit color?

TheDA 10-15-2014 04:06 AM

Nope, only if there's been a problem and then it is just to start it and restart again.

That.
Or when I try to wipe up some virus (but that haven't happened in years).

Actually it is for diagnostics and repair, loads minimal drivers and such

MrBottomTooth 10-15-2014 05:12 AM

Enjoy your 640 x 480 screen? That makes no sense at all. Unless you trying to fix something there is no reason the be in safe mode. If you are using safe mode to improve performance it sounds like you need to finally upgrade your pentium 90 running windows me. That's like saying your vehicle gives a smoother ride when it"s in the garage on a hoist.

michael.kickass 10-15-2014 05:17 AM

Never, it's useless IMHO.

Chosen 10-15-2014 05:54 AM

No, you are the only one.

yeah, you're right. and apple is strictly for geniuses... doorknob..

seeandsee 10-15-2014 06:06 AM

It's called safe mode for reason, it will bootup minium of neceseray stuff, and any virus, malware and shit will not boot up

lol are you joking? Safe Mode is well known and is used for things such as repairing drivers, recovering from malware and viruses, etc...

pornguy 10-15-2014 07:48 AM

Only on the rare occasion I think the Anti has missed something.

PAR 10-15-2014 07:55 AM

Haven't used Safe Mode in years.
But it is great for sorting out errors when they do popup.

AdultKing as a Mac user you may wish to know OSX also has this not just windows...
Seems you may want to learn a little more about your OS... :/

What is "Safe Mode"?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US

Safe Mode (sometimes called Safe Boot) is a way to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, and prevents some software from automatically loading or opening.

Pigshit. My operating system is Window's seven and I have set my screen resolution to 1024 x 768 in safe mode..my Processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz, 1862 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) and I have 4 gigs of RAM. So you do not have any idea what you are talking about.

Several software that I frequently use operates much faster in safe mode.

Based on those specs, he wasn't really that far off with his assessment. :1orglaugh

Even if it's a newer version it's almost 4 years old.

Core 2 processors came out in 2006. Probably when you purchased the machine you're using.

Well they must have updated it so it runs at a higher resolution now. Since most normal people only use it to diagnose driver and malware problems, most people never have to look at it.
I'm sure 1024 x 768 is fine on your 17 inch crt but anyone who doesnt live in a cave these days is running a minimum of 1080p monitors.

You realize it is meant as a diagnostic mode, right, disabling all advanced features? Switching into safe mode to gain performance means 2 things, you're a complete dumb ass and there's something wrong with your computer to cause it to bog down when not in safe mode.

Plus your computer is ancient garbage.

Instead of wasting your time booting into safe mode you should be trying to figure out what is slowing your computer down. Did you really think using safe mode for everyday computing was a normal practice? And that there would actually be other people here that did the same thing? Lol

Pigshit. Nothing is wrong with my computer. I was experimenting one day and learned that certain software I frequently use operates faster in safe mode. So when I use the software I often switch to safemode...end of story.

You lost the right to call someone that when you admitted you use safe mode as a performance enhancing tool.

It's been a while since I used Windows, but what used to work for me was to delete Windows Temporary directory and or run a system clean-up. This took a few minutes and always made a big improvement with speed and reliability.

At times when Windows would crash on boot-up (or shortly thereafter) I would start windows in Safe Mode, then delete / remove recently installed items one at a time, then reboot again, until the problem file(s) were found.

If you don't like doing this there are some good utilities around I'm sure that can help.

for that i use avast's boot-time scan, it surely wipes those auto regenerating viruses.

only when its fucked up, i run the safe mode

I am perfectly satisfied with the computer I have...thank you very fucking much. It takes a matter of seconds to switch to safe mode when I need to run certain software faster than it will run in normal mode.
