Will FaceBook or Twitter ban for this?

I came across a website that lets you lock links with social buttons.

I recon it could be a good way to get some traffic. I'm just worried facebook or twitter will ban for this. What do you guys think?

:thumbsup

i think it's not allowed

NatalieK 10-24-2014 03:09 AM

How does this work? Which links would you be locking with social buttons, sorry for the ignorance :thumbsup

MrTrollkien 10-24-2014 05:29 AM

It is a wordpress plugin called, OnePress Social Locker.

It allows you to lock a part of content on a web page until a user clicks one of the social buttons (Facebook Like, Tweet Button, Google +1) and help you to get more likes/tweets/+1s, traffic.

I do not why you would think anyone will ban you for using this, plus the plugin is SEO friendly. Locked content is still available for search bots.

Cameltoepro 10-27-2014 10:55 AM

I wonder how well it works.

If you really have a unique, interesting content people will unlock it, otherwise it will hurt your site.

Yes, you'll get banned...

Dam that sucks. It seems like a good method to get traffic.

Twelveninety 10-28-2014 02:23 PM

I have heard about other people getting banned for doing this

angiecontent 11-19-2014 07:09 AM

This seems pretty similar to 'paywithatweet' where the user pay with a tweet when they download 'freebies' for example. As far as I'm concerned Facebook doesn't ban for this... or do they?

madame 11-20-2014 08:25 AM

If they donīt ban for this yet, they soon will or should cause it gives absolutely no value for either the fanpage or the website and the likes are as good as fake.

+1, Tweet or Like is a sign of willingness to promote the content based on its value, you can not value something you havenīt seen yet. It is as if hotels were demanding a good review in order for the visitor to book a room or restaurants as a requirement to be able to get a table, both cases before the person even enters the establishment.

I donīt think so. There is lots of great things which are "paid" by Tweets or shares and are actually good content and/or events worth to promote (I did so few days ago for HackSummit for example) Nothing to do with low quality shares announced "You WILL NOT BELIEVE what happened to her!!!!" or "What they did to save this poor puppy was AMAZING" where you have to click million share buttons to see the stuff (which is probably mostly shared by twelve years old anyway :winkwink: )

Nevertheless: it does depend on the content. But then: if the content is good, why would you need this plugin? Gets shared by itself.

DevonDemon 11-21-2014 03:02 AM

That's why I don't deal with that kinda stuff. FB sucks, Twitter, you never know what they'll do next, and then they work becomes worthless.

Freax 11-28-2014 01:51 AM

Its a very nice way to getting nosy subscribers :-)

No FB and Twitter will not block you for this. Is a normal way to getting social network followers and likes. But you should not do it for adult sites!!!

There is another plugin on the market that allows to choose between pay some bitcoins (actually satochis which is a few us cents) or alternative give likes or shares. If you diable FB you can use it for soft adult content.

AlexanderSmich 12-04-2014 09:18 AM

You can't post adult content on social networks... :(

tiberiu.popa 12-10-2014 04:09 PM

You can set them private on twitter and still keep them up

Maybe because it's against their TOS idiot? With Facebook you're not allowed to force likes unless there is a countdown or way to close the lock notice without liking

It seems the only way to get rid of the locker is by upgrading the account.

I checked out paywithatweet. It's pretty much the same thing as this? They are pretty big. I don't think the social giants will ban for this.

chronik 12-13-2014 01:42 PM

If you don't mind making 5$ a day I doubt you will have any trouble, if you get any kind of serious traffic I am sure Facebook will delete your fanpage and/or blacklist your domain. No idea about Twitter, different sites, different TOS's and different practices.

sunghim 12-16-2014 03:52 PM

i really don't know what to say about this...

iamBoogieman 01-19-2015 06:29 AM

Auto ban.

SvenGun 03-24-2015 06:18 AM

I'm not sure that it is allowed

ribads 03-25-2015 01:25 AM

Yes, FaceBook and Twitter will give ban for this.

crist3l 03-27-2015 05:48 AM

You can use it just for twitter if you dont wanna get busted on fb!

digital_stuff 04-05-2015 04:59 PM

Generally, the problem with these sites, especially FB, is always the same - you never can be sure what they will do.

Virta367 04-10-2015 02:52 AM

twitter allow adult, but facebook not ( only for private groups )

Honest-trafficker 05-03-2015 09:33 PM

You will be banned from facebook but not twitter

David White 05-25-2015 11:48 AM

Some people sell fb accounts but they rarely activate. So unless you have different fb accounts; Than i wouldnt risk it

hqtrade.biz 06-28-2015 01:23 AM

I believe they are banned for this...
