I've heard it has a noticeable shake...whenever Michael's driving it.

I went to school with his kids in NJ in the 1980s while he was building cars - and got busted.

In all serious, Mark, I also have a volt. How do you charge yours? Regular electricity in your garage or something, or did you upgrade to the 240 V power station?

Busted, yeah...I remember that time. The world's first car powered by coke. :1orglaugh

But he got off after proving entrapment.

A buddy of mine owned one back in the days. The workmanship was notorious. The doors were tempermental and they handled like a piece of s**t.

Me too - still do. BTTF was re released in the theatres a few years ago for the 25th anniversary. Even though I had seen it on TV millions of times (and rode BTTF: The Ride, thousands of times), I still went to see it again in the theatre. Movie nerd.

I paid to have 220v installed (About $900), and bought a 220v charger (Powercord, $600). The Quebec Government offers $1000 for this upgrade so the total cost was $500 and change.

The big difference is that now the Volt charges in 3 and a half hours instead of about 10-12 hours. It's also supposed to be more efficient and cheaper on electricity charging with 220v but I don't know how to calculate that part - its just something I read.

Congrats on your car! I've loving mine so far.

There's a guy I've seen in the northwest suburbs of Chicago at a stoplight that made his own replica. Obviously absolute shit but got a lot of looks and kinda funny although I can't see spending all the time building a shit box.

there is no real efficiency gain with 220v over 110. the formula is always the same:

Wattage / Voltage = Amperage

you are billed in kilowatt hours, the 220 will pull ~the same kilowatts as 110 but in less time because they are both charging the same wattage motor. so wattage in the above equation is constant. so you will be billed on the watts used to charge to 100%

there's a voltage drop in the cable, the bigger the cable the bigger the drop, the formula for this is slightly more complicated but if the cable is only 3-5 feet it doesn't really matter.

Be careful, new research suggests the Flux Capacitor may cause Parkinson's.
