How long do you want to LIVE FOR?

i'm pretty fit and work out a lot i love being active, i don't want be in position where i'm too old to run,or walking with stick with my back bent over, not being able to defend my self or even get up by self if fallen over.. this comes to mind "i hope i die before i get old" the who :) :321GFY

CaptainHowdy 10-22-2014 07:52 AM

i wonder if he would still say that

Tom_PM 10-22-2014 08:00 AM

The trick is that age moves with you; you never get old.

The Who were just messing with your head.

aka123 10-22-2014 08:13 AM

As long as possible. I crawled as a baby, couldn't run and not to speak of defending myself. I didn't crawl under train because of that, and I am not going to start doing so. And defending myself is always a bit relative issue. I can always try, but succeeding is a different matter whether I am toddler, adult or gramp.

Luckily I had mom and dad as a toddler to defend me, and as a gramp I can hire private army (if I can afford it). We also have regular army and it protects old folks too. I am not Rambo anyways, so I kinda rely on fighting with a larger group.

FTFY :)

Seriously though, I dont worry about staying fit or about dieing. It is what it is, and it will happen when it happens...

A little of what you fancy does you good...

If I end up being unable to have a satisfying existance, I'll just end it myself.

Very true - You NEVER get older... Those around you get younger...

Case in point, you get pulled by a police officer in your car at night. The first though when you see the officer is "Does your mum know you are out so late"... Followed by... "Ahhhhh.... Doesn't he just so so cute in that fancy dress costume"

Harmon 10-22-2014 08:24 AM

I mean, they say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time.

Rochard 10-22-2014 09:10 AM

I am forty-six years old and just shot hoops on the basketball court for an hour in 51 degree weather. I'm good to go.

The best part was getting dressed this morning. I put my shorts on (it will be in the 70s here later today) and I see the difference - my shorts and pants are huge on me.

sperbonzo 10-22-2014 09:16 AM

I am 51. I run 4 to 10 miles every other day and lift in between. I run the tough mudder every year, and I am running the Miami marathon in January. I also enjoy my wine and cigars. I spend weekends on my boat and I have an awesome wife and the cutest 3 year old son on the planet. (no bias, of course :) ). I intend to live to at least 90+ so that I can see my son as a 40+ year old man.

Sorry for the wordy response. :)

As much as possible

Alex21 10-22-2014 09:22 AM

Makes no difference how long you live but what you accomplish in those years..

Abraham Lincoln I think (roughly paraphrased)

CDSmith 10-22-2014 09:25 AM

We may be a few mere decades away from science being able to transplant your brain back into a younger, say twenty year old, clone of yourself, thus enabling you to live on and on.

It would suck to die before then.

:D

Whenever someone says doing this or that will add x number of years to your life, a buddy of mine has the kneejerk response of "yeah, but those aren't the good years."

edgeprod 10-22-2014 12:25 PM

I am going to live forever, or die trying. :thumbsup

Seth Manson 10-22-2014 12:39 PM

I'm ready to go when my mind starts to go.

ottopottomouse 10-22-2014 04:17 PM

My grandma is 91 and lives in a care home. She can't remember the last 60 years of her life. Reaching a huge age isnt a target for me - living past having a fully functioning mind is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Let's live at least by 2050,by then there is a high chance to live forever ( simply by downloading and backing up your life(means memories and your mind) and store it in a hard drive and then you can upload it in a new body of your choice or in a robot, also you can be in a multiple places ( like real world and virtual worlds) with different bodies at the same time and stay connected)

Prototype of this kind of life may exist even NOW and THEY might testing it for the future of mankind...

There is a lot of Science fiction like this.
I like the fantasy of being given drug treatments that rejuvenate the body, but you must go to Mars and work as a labourer for a few hundred years. :)

Cherry7 10-23-2014 05:15 AM

You are only as old as the girl your feeling.

davecummings 10-23-2014 06:06 AM

I'll turn 75 in March, still bangin', so anytime in my 80's will be fine with me (preferably of a massive stroke in my sleep after having had sex with some young chick earlier that evening:-)

DWB 10-23-2014 03:42 PM

I'd like to get 30 or 40 more years out of this, but I'll be thankful for tomorrow. I just don't want to be in a position where I can't take care of myself.

Arnox 10-23-2014 05:05 PM

23 here. Making it to 70 would be nice.
