What the UNITED STATES thinks of EUROPE(and reverse)

I am not really sure what means the last one(eu continent about uk)

mineistaken 10-23-2014 05:21 AM

They think it is a country.

nico-t 10-23-2014 05:37 AM

lol... what UK thinks of continental europe (the huge taxes made in Brussels) is the same as what continental europe thinks of continental europe.

wehateporn 10-23-2014 05:39 AM

That's pretty good I might post it on GFY

Barry-xlovecam 10-23-2014 06:34 AM

To 90% of US Americans Europe is of little importance other than many identify it as where their families immigrated from and what the American Revolution was about.

They have no conception nor interest of European politics or economics. Apart from the few consumer brands they know that are European, Europe is just a bunch of nations to them. I would guess if you asked on the street what the EU is maybe 50% of the respondents would know.

We Americans all live in trailers (caravans) and carry semiautomatic weapons just the same as many Americans believe Europeans never take a bath ...

American do think of Europe at times, at least My associates and I do.

We think of Americans fighting with England for independence and the French coming to a young Americas aid. We think of England attacking the US again a couple of decades later in 1812. We also think of the Spanish-American war. We think about how America spent the better part of a century fighting with European nations immediately after it's independence including European support of Confederate States during our civil war.

We think about Europe as a war torn area in both WW1 and WW2 and how America got involved to help both fight those wars and rebuild after the fighting. We think of the lend-lease act that supplied much of Europe during WW2.

We then think about America hosting the United Nations for decades and often wonder why no other nation has stepped forward to host it.

The real questions that should be asked or considered here is:

Do Americans care about what Europeans think?

Do Europeans care about what Americans think?

If we all spent our time worrying about what others think we would never accomplish much in life.

What do you think of the singer Bono? That's how Europeans think of America.

So you think Americans are talented, wealthy, and over played on the radio and TV!

Great!

I will not touch on the Brits sting of multiple ass kickings or bail outs during wartime.

Barry-xlovecam 10-23-2014 11:33 AM

I don't think most Americans have a real animosity toward Europeans -- I am just pointing out that they are indifferent.
However, our opinions of various regions within the US are very similar to the animosity between European states.

I feel the same way personally. I am a net importer of income from abroad to my community, not that anyone around here gives a shit really. But I am but a very small minority around here.

The others are busy with their fat asses in electric scooters with machine guns blazing at the Walmart nearby :upsidedow

You don't understand the exit joke or the continental Europe?

Quite good jokes, and not so far from truth. I share most of the images (if I simplify them).

When I was at language course in UK (learning English), our host family had warm "bathing" water just once a week. During the month or so visit, I had once slightly lukewarm water. So, I showered every day with cold water, excluding that lukewarm incident. It had some impact about my image regarding UK.

this is where being cheap bites them in the ass. most schools pay next to nothing to the host families to maximize their profit and as a result only super poor families on benefits end up being hosts... however when you live for a while in uk there are other things that really put brits in a bad light, not about economics but rather cultural trends

Never heard of that in any western country... you must have had the worst host family ever, or you are confusing the UK with a shack in Kenya. :1orglaugh
