I really don't think it's unreasonable to ask these people to go into quarantine for three weeks just to be 100% sure. I don't get it.

Agreed. If you want to take your dog to Hawaii there is a 6 month quarantine because the islands are rabies free and they want to keep it that way. There is nothing wrong with making mandatory quarantine for anyone traveling thru or coming from countries with ebola outbreaks. It's common sense.

Long story short: if you go over there don't come back.

How is it a money thing? It's a responsibility issue.

If you choose to go to West Africa to help, which I fully support and is fantastic, you also need to be responsible for the people back home. Coming home and walking around town while still within the possible three-week window is not being responsible. It's putting others at risk. This guy could have been walking around on the subway feeling totally fine and then get hit with illness, throwing up everywhere, infecting everyone.

Furthermore, if you come back from West Africa, how can you in good conscious go home and live with your girlfriend and not wonder whether or not you could get sick and get her sick? All you need to do is throw up, all you need to do is sweat, and you put her at risk.

This is just stupid.

I think the monkey means it would cost the government too much money to quarantine everyone at the airport or customs or whatever.

Personal responsibility doesn't exist these days.

Not that many people are coming back from West Africa. It costs over $1000 an hour to treat someone with Ebola, that's one person, and they are sick for weeks.

There is plenty of money.

Charge the person who CHOOSES to travel to/from there. No one forced them to take the trip, why should taxpayers foot their fucking bill?

So far it's charity workers and Africans they buy tickets for. Make them responsible or block travel.

One report stated that there are thousands of people everyday flying out of the infected countries with some coming into America and some going to other countries.

If someone gives me the flu I'll probably get over it. Not to sure about this other shit and I trust no one in the government to look out for me.
