The flyer was an idiot. All it takes is one too many complaints and flying drones as a hobby will become illegal.

This past summer I was flying my drone in a park. Every time I fly I always attract some onlookers who want to know how it works and want to buy one. This day though this guy just took there with a sour look on his face. Even though I was flying high and far away from him he thought he should call the cops on me.

The cops showed up and talked to him, watched me fly, but didn't come over. I decided to land and walk over to the cops. They were nice, looked at my drone, thought it was cool. I even showed them the video. The cops told me what I was doing was "safe", "fine", and "looked fun". The asshat that called the cops was not pleased.

My thinking is that as long as flyers respect everyone, stay under 300 feet (FAA rules), and take arial video and photos for the view and not to invade someones privacy (or piss of a topless sunbather like this flyer clearly did) the hobby will remain legal.

Most of what people seem to use them for is already illegal anyway in terms of where they are flying.

It's 400ft and it's just an advisory guideline that is about to be replaced with a much stricter set of actual rules.
