So you think sexual harrassment on the street is bad in the US?

They just keep posting the videos the New York one was done after.

This is a story I read in the local paper in Delhi which is actually originally published on CNN about an American girl's experience of her trip to India:
http://edition.cnn.com/2013/08/20/wo...rpt/index.html In India you have strong religion and weak government. In China you have strong government and weak religion. You have to remember that life is cheap in India..... sexual harassment, rapes etc are committed by rural/tribal people who have ZERO education and ZERO money (GDP per capita is less than half of China). Their life is not worth a whole lot. Sadly in India, most of this kind of thing is targeted towards one particular section of society - the orientals, who make up about 10% of the population. Other crimes are pretty low..... this is the main crime. This is a country which basically has (practically speaking) no government, its run by the wealthy class. But its important to note that women are not treated this way in India - this behavior is limited to a very small section of the poor/uneducated class which is in fact more than 80% of the population (of 1.3 billion). |
I feel the same in China and Korea. I get eyeballed up and down. People yell out Hello to me.
Disgusting...lol Actually i sort of agree, because if you do not want to talk to anyone. Suddenly you are perceived as rude because you do not want to say hello 100 times by walking outside your door. |

I know I'm going to get trolled for this comment but what they hell, I've got a thick skin.
Being a man that's been around a bit I can say that 1) The harassment is bad and it's getting worse. In fact I can't remember when it's been this bad. 2) The United States isn't all that bad. Granted it's a bit creepy when some asshole follows a girl around. But in many European cities it's by far worst. And in places like Latin America, India, etc it's getting fucking insane. (I travel a lot) I actually think the source of the problem is us. By that I mean the porn industry and the Internet. We've been feeding these knuckle dragging creeps with a constant message of woman are just "cum dumpsters" for an entire generation. And the Internet just gives them the tools to become motherfucking bastards. Unfortunately it's going to get worse before it gets better. |

I'm almost wondering if there won't be in the foreseeable future women that aren't even Muslim wearing Burkas just avoid the bullshit. |

I find it really strange urge to wawe to some random strangers on such distance. |
also, what has the fact that situation is worse in xyz have to do with the problem of what happens in new york?
If I stub my toe in a ward of child cancer patients, my toe still hurts. |

With that in mind I've seen several women in niqabs and it seems to me that they get left alone when they're in public. You're probably right and it'll never catch on but then again, who knows??? If more and more men keep acting like entitled gorrilas on Viagra... something's going to happen sooner or later. |
