Anybody use Reddit for traffic?

Anybody use reddit for traffic? I just went there to check it out and posted a few link in some subreddits but noticed almost all of the other posts were to imgur hosted images.
Why woud people upload an image there and then link to it? Shouldn't they just link to the original image? Am I missing something?
Also I noticed my submitted links haven't shown up on the subreddit? Does it take a while to show up or something? Thanks!

I don't use reddit for traffic, but as far as I'm aware you're not allowed to post links. imgur is their *trusted* image host, so that's why they're all hosted there.

I have tried and its very hard to convert

Most subreddits only allow submissions from sites like imgur.

Reddit has one mean ass anti spam rule. If not on there trusted site list, say you linked to image on your site, it is deemed spam instantly and they dont alow spam from new members. So you have to find work around etc. For awsome reddit guide and info go to good ol youtube and search for lazzyass stoners guide to reddit. Kid is aswome

Can I just start a subreddit and have all of us post our crap there?

LizardKing 11-06-2014 12:33 PM

Reddit *can* be awesome.

I recognized a spike by 10k for 3 days (2k,5k,3k) some weeks ago, just because some guy with a high-reputation account posted 3 of my videos.

If you are already on Reddit with an account you can make huge traffic. But as already pointed out - if you are recognized as a spammer, your whole domain might be banned. So use with care ;)

I don't think it does make sense to create an account for 1-3 posts.

If I'm able to create a subredit I will post it here and let everyone link what ever they want.

Are there any tutorials (videos) put that teach you how to use reddit?

Have been using Tumblr for some extra traffic
this is working (never have used Redit)

Check out PlugRush traffic trades.

"Pops" explains how it works watch vid below

The way to go Reddit as i do it - upload 5-10 pic on imgur but only 1-2 to have a SMALL watermark with your site, post in a popular subreddit and enjoy the traffic. But As somebody already said you need an old established account so you are not flagged.

Reddit, if done correctly is very good. It is probably the best to work on social media for at least an hour a day.

Antokas 11-11-2014 05:03 PM

I tried reddit with new account. Posted about 15-20 links in different subreddits in about a week and got flagged as spammer :) But till I got flagged I got steady traffic up to 10K per day for a week. Bounce rate was awful but 10K new visits per day was awesome. I think it also helped with google as page got better rankings (or maybe it was just a coincidence).

Reddit = $$ fail

ParisDreams 11-13-2014 07:43 PM

We actually use Reddit. We have a subreddit, and I post 3-5 links twice daily (morning & evening). We get quite a bit of traffic from it, then again, we are still a fairly new site.

guysinunderwear 11-14-2014 05:30 AM

About 60% of my traffic used to come from Reddit until I was shadowbanned. I think I was posting too many links, but at least I learnt my lesson.

Yea, go to youtube and watch the "lazyassed stoner guide how to use reddit" . The kid is good. Made a post on it while back.

Posts into reddit forums can get you great traffic but you have to be careful, you can get flagged as a spammer real quick either by the subreddit mod or the site mods. Best strategy is to make lots of regular posts like commenting on posts or uploading images using imgur, then say every ten posts add one that links to the site you are promoting. This will help you in flying under the radar.

DDuckworth 11-18-2014 05:40 PM

In Paris Dreams case using their own subreddit is pretty safe, if people like your sub you can post all the links you want to whatever you want, nobody is going to flag you for that.

However, if you go about posting to other subs definitely use imgur, and you can link your site in the caption if you need.
