So I installed an SSD drive in my Apple Mac and this happened..

.... I smiled!

It works perfectly. LOVE it. If you are looking for a really worth-while upgrade to your computer consider swapping your old hard drive for a solid state drive. My machine is quieter, runs cooler, and is lighting fast on just about everything. Super-impressed with SSD.

MiamiBoyz 11-07-2014 09:53 PM

I did the same thing.

I took a mid-2012 MacBook Pro and I put in a 250 gig SSD and I doubled the memory from 4 to 8 gigs. The machine works GREAT and was never faster! It will keep going for years more...

I installed a Plextor m5 pro extreme yesterday. Fucking kicks ass and will kick more ass once I upgrade my motherboard so I can have sata3.

I just bought a new MacbookPro tonight. 256gig one. So awesome not having some super hot laptop on me while I watch TV.

SSD rocks!

It will get hot as fuck if you play a game like World of Warcraft or League of Legends on it.

But normal surfing mine never gets hot.

I put SSD in my HP laptop (note: PC!) two years ago and it is still one of my best performing computers.

My new iMac has SSD as well. It's new, damn thing better still run like a champ.

All in all, want a cheap upgrade for your computer? Add SSD. It's beautiful. The time savings alone are worth every penny. My HP (I did it again!) laptop is three years old, loaded with heavy-duty media software, and does a complete reboot within 15 seconds.

Wanna smile more? Go RAID 0 with 3 ssds.

I have a RAID 0 striped 6 drives for OS/only in my editing machine. 4K editing fast as fuck.

actually when we talk about upgrades and hardware or software we NEVER mention a brand name of the machine although we will say 'netgear' 'asus' 'nivida' stuff like that ...

you guys always say stuff like 'I'll check my email on my mac' we say 'I'll check my email'

another funny thing you guy say is 'my mac open anything....' which is true if you buy all the apps for $25-$49 per app :2 cents:

I've never said "I'll check my email on my Mac". Maybe you should stop hanging out with idiots?

The most expensive app I have on my Mac is $4.99. Not even my OS cost more than that. Can you say the same?

pornguy 11-08-2014 10:40 AM

Might do that on this PC soon.

What's the point of this link? Is it because "For Mac"? Maybe because the article talks about doing it for... Get this... A Mac. The process isn't the same as PC (Which is a dumb fucking term anyways, even Macs are PC's. Maybe be a little less generic and use a proper term, Windows, or Linux because even those this process is drastically different.)

That sounds awesome but I couldn't fit that much hardware in the iMac and plus I have no 4K editing to do. But still. I've seen some youtube vids of Raided SSD and wow..

I should have said iMac, not mac, sorry. I mentioned mac first its because its what I use, and second because anyone else who uses them know that even though they run quiet with low fan speed most of the time, they tend to get hot on the top where the vents are. But now, while still at low fan speed, the machine is just a comfy warm instead of hot.

Me-thinks you've just got trannies on the brain... :)

Peace.

Before that an Intel X25-M 120GB for quite a while.

New tech cost money, but hey you Mac guys are used to pay a premium for dated hardware so what does it matter :)

You "wasted" 2 years and the price is still the same.

At the same time that person who spoke about 2010 also has no laughing voice.

"truth" is in the middle between 2010 and 2014.

"truth" is that a hardware upgrade costing few hundred $$ is a trivial expense to any professional... in 2010 possible reliability issues were more of a concern for most than the price tag... :2 cents:

I agree, but that was not my point. MP posted that image to prove that 2010 was bad year (too early) to buy, yet he also proved that 2014 was bad year (too late) to buy as well.
So both of those guys should not have laughed that much :)

No I don't think they were, but I replaced my hard drive with a SSD back in 2010 or maybe it was 2011. No longer remember. It was still worth the price.

As have been said reliability and how long they could last were the biggest issue with the first generations.
That is no longer an issue, and I am surprised there are still people who use their computer for daily work, who hasn't upgraded yet.

How about to run many different virtual machines for development purposes?

Oh yeah, a moron like you wouldn't know there's more reasons for RAM usage than unclosed apps. :321GFY

You do that. Then I'll relax on the sofa, commanding my Xbox One to fire up tv, surround and sat box to watch some F1.. or have it open the Plex app, and find a good movie from the NAS library. It's the box that's actually a media center and not just a streaming tool :)
