Arvixe Acquired by EIG

One of the last good shared hosts has been bought by EIG.

If you're hosting there, better plan to move ASAP. Things are going to start sucking.

I saw that last week right as I was about to migrate an account to them, it's funny how the owner always put down EIG and said he would never ever in a million years sell out to them. Everything EIG touches turns to shit.

Probably a better business model to get sign ups than the alternate "someday we're gonna sell out and suck ass, please sign up now" :1orglaugh

Arvixe is down more than it's up. How can it get worse?

EIG is the poster child for what is wrong with web hosts. Those of us that have small companies fight for the scraps while everyone goes to large hosts, have nothing but issues with $1/month hosting and then expect 24/7 phone/ticket support when we're barely scraping by providing $3/month service and being told we charge too much. Oh, and "unlimited" hosting? Better read those terms of service a bit more closely. I've never seen an unlimited disk, RAM or bandwidth.

Yeah it is hard to compete in hosting industry, you either have to offer incredibly cheap offers to stay competitive,or you can be "elite" hosting with offering top notch support for premium price but that is even harder to get such clients as once client get good host he wont move from there ever unless some serious shit happen.
