NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) ? Two window washers were reported trapped on a scaffolding at 1 World Trade Center, according to the Office of Emergency Management.

Images from the scene showed the scaffolding dangling at a precarious angle.

The scaffold is trapped at around the 68th floor.

The incident began at around 12:45 p.m. on the south side of the building.

Emergency responders from the Police and Fire Departments along with the Port Authority are on the scene in an effort to rescue the workers and secure the dangling scaffold platform.

Initial reports suggest the washers were done cleaning the windows and were about to ascend to to the top of the tower when the cable that pulls the scaffold up became loose.

A friend of mine just shot this...visiting NYC today...

I just realized this would not work, they'd still have to get up there and change out the wiper blades.

Why?

They're only cleaning windows, hardly a big deal.

But if they trip over the bottle of window cleaner, and fell out of that thing they have to fall from a high up..... 99% of people falling from that height would be DEAD.

But window cleaners generally are not that intelligent and they may not have made that calculation or risk assessment.
