What web monitoring service do you use?

I know about internetseer.com and have used them before but I was wondering what else is out there.

What do you use and pass on a link.

If you own a site and dont know what this is, its a good idea to start looking at one.

Babaganoosh 11-12-2014 08:47 PM

SpotOnTechSupport 11-12-2014 09:03 PM

Cacti and PRTG for my servers/switches.

Tekkno 11-12-2014 10:06 PM

Zabbix FTW!

pornguy 11-13-2014 07:30 AM

Thanks guys I will check those out today.

OK. All the above systems were very nice but I need something that runs on another server to monitor MY servers.

If this runs on my desk top then it does me no good as I dont leave my desk top on 24/7

Anything else out there?

Maybe I will just get a new box load one of these on it and start charging others to do the same for them.

Most of those do. They use SNMP to connect to the server and poll them for the needed data. My PRTG server is a Windows one that I use only for remote access and PRTG. Cacti is running on a small Linux VPS to watch my other machines and my Cisco switch.

aka123 11-13-2014 10:20 AM

Pingdom. It pings my vps server every minute.

Thats one way to do it but I have learned that no matter what dont put yourself 100% in the hands of someone else.

fuzebox 11-13-2014 03:56 PM

I use dnsmadeeasy.com with dns failover. Two birds with one stone.

Cost we have to look. We need to find ways save cost not just keep spending

MrGusMuller 11-14-2014 03:55 AM

pingdom!

pornguy 11-14-2014 08:15 AM

For now it seems we are going to be using SiteUpTime.com they do most of the things we wanted and will mail multiple addresses at the same time if an error occurs.

Still looking around for other options as well so any other ideas would be nice.

I understand that but at some point you have to decide if cost is worth loss.

I posted the name of the site below we are using and its 45$ or so a year. So might want to consider that.

Trust me Im not saying in anyway not to trust your hosting company but things happen.
