Jesse Ventura: Military doesn't 'fight for our freedom'
Former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura has some harsh words for the armed forces this Veterans Day: If given the option today, he'd opt out of military service. "I hate to say it, but no, I would be a conscientious objector today," the Navy special forces veteran said in a video posted Tuesday. "I don't believe that the military fights for our freedom." "They give them all the ra ra at the stadiums, and they cheer 'em on," said Ventura, who served as a Reform Party governor of the North Star state from 1999 to 2003. "But when the veterans come home, we pretty much forget about them. They're old news. They're yesterday's garbage. And it's time to move on to the next war." Back then your ass got drafted and of course they drilled it into you that you were fighting for "America" and "freedom". I think he's just pointing out the obvious. And I agree with him. The U.S. hasn't been invaded and occupied since the war of 1812. Every war has been our govt. sending troops to invade other countries. We've all been taught and accept that WWI and WWII were "good" wars for us to enter. I have no reason to think otherwise (as if a war can be a good thing). Korea...a little more "iffy" in my opinion. And everything from Vietnam forward has been pure bullshit. Not on the part of the troops. But on the part of the men sitting in Washington D.C. |
Jess ventura voluntarily joined the military to kill in vier nam. A quote of his:"Until you have hunted men, you haven't hunted yet."
He's a joke. |

I can't believe some of you are just figuring out Ventura is a joke. I thought it was common knowledge

Blame the government all you want but that is bullshit. "We The People" are the only ones that can put a stop to war. We can't blame politicians because we are the ones who put them into office and keep them in office.
It is our own fault and we are the only one's who can fix it. Buffy Saint Marie on how she came to write Universal Soldier: "It was the middle of the night and some soldiers came in wheeling their buddies on stretchers and wheelchairs and I'd never seen anything like that, they're all bandaged and shot up and I got talking to some of these soldiers and they knew there was a war but what it did to me was it made me question well, who was responsible for war? I mean, was it these guys, you can't just point your finger at them, although they were there. Or maybe it's Generals, maybe it's the Generals who make a career of telling these guys waht to do but maybe that doesn't go far enough. I mean who tells the Generals what to do? Who points the Generals, in the Army at somebody else? Ah, the Politicians, but here I am flying on the way to Toronto and it had to go farther. By the time I got to the Purple Onion I said Who elects the politicians? Ah, it's us, right? His orders come from far away no more. They come from him and you and me and brothers can't you see, this is not the way we put the end to war......" :( . |
