Is there a way to kill a password sharing site?

This guy: RLPass.us - Free Premium Accounts,Cracking Forum, Cracking Downloads, Cracking Tutorials - Powered by vBulletin has tons of working logins and passwords to hundreds of websites, including mine. So far I contacted twitter and paypal.

Is there a way to block his domain? It's an US address and Im running a company in EU, should I contact FBI?

Sure...get your hands on some annon proxies. Load said proxies into the browser of your choice. Make a free email account. Create a fake email templet as if your promoting the password site. Go to all the anti spam sites like spamhaus and save their contact emails. Send this templet you created multiple timrs to the email list you created. Depending on where they are hosted they could be turned off within hours.

What he said.

Before you do that contact vbulletin. I believe what they are doing violates their TOS. Maybe not but it might.

Cure the source of the problem first: Upgrade your protection and block these accounts.

Blocking one site won't block the 100's others.

These sites are free traffic which may actually convert if people can't find working accounts. It could also be free hardlinks.

Killing it could be good. But, it won't stop the issue for your site.

Btw, they're hosted at Hostwinds (US-based). Send them a DMCA and/or a cease and desist letter.

hire technical person and get professional system to block password sharing accounts.

TeenCat 11-16-2014 11:02 AM

just secure your site better, make user and passwords random, one unique ip at one time limit, daily download limit that can by bypass by direct request from member, then just enjoy your dead password on those sites as promotion :winkwink: have luck :)

Start by contacting your local authorities. Often different countries do cooperation. Just remember to present it right, so that it doesn't stop to a ignorant police, etc.

I didn't say anything about FBI. Local police was meant to be just a middle man forwarding the subject onwards. There are units specialized more or less to this kind of issues. Let them decide what to do or not to do. I didn't mean that some local hill billy police would start to investigate this.

Pick one, FBI is there too (branch):

FBI ? Cyber Crime

National Crime Agency - National Cyber Crime Unit

Cyber Crime Unit (Hellenic Police) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Action Fraud

Maybe in your country, unless bribes are offered. Not very professional anyways if they laugh. With more manners they at least assure that they will investigate it and then afterwards throw it into trash can.

Quite a few years ago, Lensman was away and left the board to the admins (I forget who). In that time, someone came to the forum complaining about a forum that stole and shared content. The thread here encouraged people to register there and bitch and complain. That went no where. So, quite cleverly, the admin here created an username with the name of that forum ... something like RP-Productions.com. Then he started creating threads taunting everyone telling them he could do what he wanted with anyone's content, that no one could stop him, that his servers were bulletproof and so on. Predictably, within minutes, his server was hacked and owned and his forums db deleted.

They almost pulled it off flawlessly, except that the admin here accidentally posted as the wrong username and outed himself before he could delete his post.

That said, it was obviously quite effective and the results were immediate.
