American hostage Peter Kassig beheaded

(CNN) -- In a video published to the Internet on Sunday -- purportedly from terror group ISIS -- militants claim to have beheaded American hostage Peter Kassig.
The video shows the aftermath of a beheading, in which the victim is not clearly recognizable. CNN has not been able to confirm the authenticity of the video nor the identity of the victim.
Kassig, 26, who converted to Islam in captivity, also went by the name Abdul Rahman Kassig.
He went to the Middle East as a U.S. soldier and returned as a medical worker, feeling compelled to help victims of war.
After returning to civilian life, he did aid work in Syria, where he was captured. He was held hostage for over a year.
The White House issued a statement condemning the purported killing.

Why they don't simply nuke their strongholds and cities? At least few tactical warheads.

There is always lessons learned that the acute effects of the atomic bombings killed 90,000?166,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000?80,000 in Nagasaki in 1945

wehateporn 11-16-2014 04:22 AM

And somewhere a kid will have just been run over, someone else somewhere will be getting burned alive, there'll be lots of bad stuff happening today, so not hugely worried about this guy in the grand scheme of things

Tactical, not strategic. If there are some kids they will probably be beheaded ,brainwashed and sent to war, so it would also be a favor for them. I mean ,there are many astrocities worldwide, but this sick idiots are doing it to show to the world and promote that behavior.

Matt 26z 11-16-2014 04:32 AM

Disgusting.

That whole area of the world is absolutely worthless to humanity besides their physical labor to pump our oil.

pimpmaster9000 11-16-2014 05:25 AM

to put things in perspective: the USA has dropped more bombs than hitler since WW2 and it is completely "ok"...meanwhile some idiots behead some poor guy and it is, somehow, news even though I can bet that at least 10 people died today by means of US army...

anti muslim headlines in a nutshell: we have treated them like shit for decades, "democratically" installing our bullshit politics and values upon them and basically, stealing their oil, and we have unloaded a cluster fuck of bombs and US society drop outs (army) on them, we have robbed them of any future by fucking shit up in their countries so bad and then blaming it on them BUT they beheaded a guy so they are animals :1orglaugh

TeenCat 11-16-2014 07:27 AM

r.i.p. ... but, just do not go there. do not try to help monkeys. if they dont need help, leave them alone. if they need help and they dont want the help, leave the fuck them alone! problem will solve itself ... if someone still must send them help, do it with army and power, not love and flowers ... howgh, end of story ...

This took place during wartime; you fail to mention what led up to those bombings? Are you?re not aware that Japan attacked Pearl Harbor with over 300 fighter planes without a declaration of war killing more than 3,500 wiping out just about our entire navy and a good portion of our air force. So what the fuck were we supposed top do haul stones at them?

Japan got exactly what they deserved at the time and if we would have annihilated the entire country it would have been fine with me and most Americans back then. Although it seems Mother Nature is addressing that issue.

How about the fallout with likely kill or harm many innocent people withn hundreds of miles of the target zone? Not to mention it would make much of their land bombed inhabitable for thousands of years.

well, you can forget the USA being the first to drop the next nuke + do you really want to open the door to nukes being ok to use?

adulttraffic 11-16-2014 11:04 AM

No..japan dident deserve what they got simply because of the actions of a handful of people. If you know a little about history their people were pretty much brainwashed to do anything for the emperor. Much like the nazis did. The americans used atomic weapons because it was thought it could same thousands of american lives by not needing to plan a invasion.

we had already annihilated Japan by the time we dropped the nukes. Every single city was firebombed except the nuke target cities. Japan cities were also primarily paper at the time.

and japan very much got what it deserved. they had massive plans to take over the entire pacific and the atrocities they committed in doing that were widespread across that part of the globe. smart bombs and precise targeting where not a part of warfare at that time.

brassmonkey 11-16-2014 11:10 AM

thats a hardcore way to go out.

adulttraffic 11-16-2014 11:51 AM

Correct...the only thing left was to break their will to fight. But I still dont think they actually deserved this. But I also agree to the reason why it was done.

thoughts go to his family ... they tried to get him back so hard .

But let`s not forget that not only american lives count :

Quote:

US confirms footage showing killing of at least 12 Syrian military officers and US aid worker Peter Kassig is authentic.
Also, you get all rounded up about these beheadings, while a few miles from your own borders, there are way more of them :

Quote:

A recent United Nations report estimated nearly 9,000 civilians have been killed and 17,386 wounded in Iraq in 2014, more than half since ISIL fighters seized large parts on northern Iraq in June. It is likely that the group is responsible another several thousand deaths in Syria. To be sure, these numbers are staggering. But in 2013 drug cartels murdered more than 16,000 people in Mexico alone, and another 60,000 from 2006 to 2012 ? a rate of more than one killing every half hour for the last seven years. What is worse, these are estimates from the Mexican government, which is known to deflate the actual death toll by about 50 percent.

Statistics alone do not convey the depravity and threat of the cartels. They carry out hundreds of beheadings every year. In addition to decapitations, the cartels are known to dismember and otherwise mutilate the corpses of their victims ? displaying piles of bodies prominently in towns to terrorize the public into compliance. They routinely target women and children to further intimidate communities. Like ISIL, the cartels use social media to post graphic images of their atrocious crimes.

It's terrible that his happened, and you have to feel for the guy's family -- but we need to stop taking the bait. More people have died from the flu today than have been beheaded by ISIS. They are not a threat to start beheading us while we walk out to the driveway to check the mailbox.

If you're not a journalist or aid worker in close proximity to ISIS, then don't sweat it.

We should try to kill as many of them as possible, but the real damage will be done long term by choking off their funding and giving young Muslim men a reason to not join up with them.

give it 2 days and he'll posting a 'false flag expose' video from youtube about how this beheading never actually took place.

that is true, but what is alternative? To send or let people die there. Guess what those muslims would do if they have available technology and nukes? US created and helped them against Assad and rest of civilized muslim world. now it is time to clean that mess because they won't stop.

Japan attacked a military post. US spent the next 4 years fire-bombing civilian cities ending with the bombs being dropped on yet more civilians.

The difference is that it is pretty rare that murders are committed by coping off the head of someone tied up...helpless...and recorded.

It is rarer still to have the motive of this murder done purely for political reasons. :321GFY

Is that the same Japan that bombed the Chinese with fleas carrying the bubonic plague, killed 16,000 POW?s and 80,000 Asians that they captured among the many other atrocities they committed against humanity?

As I said they got what they deserved and I graciously decline the invitation to visit your country.

ISIS (IS, ISIL) has no centralized command to attack, no large cities under control and no large troop concentrations to eradicate -- so this nuclear bomb let's vaporise their ass talk is just hot air.

Just send in the drones daily ... contain their actions. They will keep beheading people to show how bad ass they think they are until enough of them get wasted from predators firing hellfire missiles at them.

Until young Arab men have opportunities in their life, we'll always be dealing with this shit using violence and creating an endless cycle of new extremists to kill. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing about a bunch of them getting killed by a 2000 pound bomb, but it's mostly a fool's errand.

and I don't know if we can even fix the opportunities issue.. It's the job of the countries where these people originate from. As long as it sucks to live there, there's going to be a steady supply of disenfranchised followers ready to join with ISIS. I hate ISIS too, but you have to give them some credit for having a strong cause. I really think they believe that the dream of Islamic State has to start somewhere. If we end up finding a way to destroy of dismantle their organization, there'll be a another group of Muslim based fanatics to carry the torch to the next phase, and ISIS knows that.

As the world becomes more automated the excess amount of humans will increase. What's the answer? In the US alone we are seeing people with zero hope of ever being productive. This number will only grow.

Elon Musk's secret fear: Artificial Intelligence will turn deadly in 5 years

Paul 11-18-2014 05:29 AM

Quote:

Aside from the frighteningly near-term prediction, the other thing that seemed to give Musk's comment import was the mention of DeepMind, a very real company he has invested in that works in the artificial intelligence space.

"The pace of progress in artificial intelligence (I'm not referring to narrow AI) is incredibly fast," said Musk. "Unless you have direct exposure to groups like Deepmind, you have no idea how fast ? it is growing at a pace close to exponential."

Later, Musk went on to claim that his view is shared by others working in the space.

SylviaMaroon 11-18-2014 05:44 AM

My worry: the first beheading everyone was really upset and shocked, so they kept doing it to spread the fear some more..
but now.. it's the 4th or 5th, and ppl are like 'meh'
so my worry is they are going to do something to upset and shock us all.. if a beheading is not enough they are going to do something more drastic, they don't really have anything to lose at the moment, so if they switch to kamikaze mode, they can cause a lot of harm.

Ok so helpless+video=bad, well the USA pretty much bombs the shit out of defenceless 3rd world countries (dropped more bombs than hitler since ww2) and we see videos on CNN left and right...

is the tied up part the difference?...well I raise you this: the 3rd world people barely managed to eat but then came the USA and bombed them to shit and ruined their livelyhood for decades to come...

is tied up any worse? :1orglaugh
