Snowmageddon Advances On Buffalo NY

This is what living in the Western NY snowbelt is like, look at downtown Buffalo, a couple inches of snow, then at the top of the photo is the suburbs, the southtowns where an apocalyptic lake effect snow storm advances.

Firefighters carrying a guy to a hospital.

Al Gore is NOT going to be happy. Won't be a lot of fund raising for him this winter.

Way to keep it south of the lake and outta Niagara. :thumbsup

No desire to fire up the snowblower already in mid-Nov.

SilentKnight 11-18-2014 09:22 PM

Heard they closed the Peace Bridge earlier. All truckers were off the road and parked in a truck stop in Buffalo.

Someone said, "Those truckers must be cold - they all have towels around their heads."

Extreme weather is ALSO a simple fact of everyday, normal weather patterns. You must have skipped the entire course ;)

When I was a teenager I hated snow. I remember having to shovel the walks, the porches, the driveway (pretty long driveway too I might add) only to have to do it again the following morning. It fucks up your plans, leaves you without power, and is just a huge waste of time. I vowed as a child one morning shoveling snow that I would find a place where it never snows and I would move there.

Much to my surprise a few years later I found such a place - North Carolina. Later on I moved to California. I've seen snow once in twenty years, and only because I drove up to see it.

Once you move out of that shit you figure out how bad it really is. No more summers spent stock piling wood for the fire place, no more falls spent raking up leaves. Fuck that shit.

Wow, it looks scary... To much snow if you ask me... :)

Look how close the bands of the storm are to Welland.

Four people have died as a result of the snowstorm. Three of them succumbed, apparently from heart problems, two of them while shoveling the deep snow. Another was killed while attempting to push a car out of a drift. :(

Time lapse video of the storm.

Yes. Supposedly it's someone on my Facebook feed's neighbor. Who knows about that, but it's definitely the pressure and weight of the snow.

Here's our a part of our Thruway, halfway between Rochester and Buffalo. That photo of the firefighters is also from the main Thurway.

Just had this one pop up.

I have friends all over Buffalo, the funny things about it all is...some got barely any snow, and just a few miles away...they got 3-4 feet.

We've both hit deer on this road in the past year.

Mutt 11-20-2014 04:30 AM

More snow on the way. Not good, people are dying, up to 8 dead now. People in the badly hit areas can't get to the hospital. Old people who rely on Meals on Wheels not getting food.

Yeah, it just grazed us. We definity dodged the bullet. I kept watching the weather radar and it was just one long stream going over Buffalo.

brassmonkey 11-20-2014 10:12 PM

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh would never live in shit like that.

Spunky 11-20-2014 10:34 PM

nico-t 11-21-2014 03:41 AM

The Jets-Bills game originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon will now be played in Detroit on Monday night in Detroit.

It was 69 degrees in WNY yesterday, I was in shorts and a TShirt. I'm sure the water will be flowing at some point.

One friend just managed to finally get dug out last night.
