Massive Spike In Banker Suicides in 2014

There's been like over 15 prominent finance suicides this year. There's Lot of speculation that it's connected to Libor/Rates/Commodities/Stocks manipulations by the banksters. Let's invite Wehateporn to dig up some conspiracy here if there wasn't enough already......

Yes and this is usually broker bankers, which basically gamble with bank money and if they do something wrong they can easily end in debt of several million dollars. This is nothing new,it started with wall street crash in 1929.

Well could be, but most of these people would have been in very high paying jobs.... probably very comfortable and have everything to live for. Also, oddly it seems more happened in the first quarter of 2014 than for the whole of 2008 (the financial crisis) but its still going on...

in that industry you have a job only as long as you continue to perform... make one mistake and that millions per year job is gone overnight... and then you are completely fucked...

JD 11-20-2014 11:46 AM

who kills themselves by slitting their throat? Seems a bit... over the top for a suicide.

Sure but your money isn't gone. Your life isn't gone. You can move along to a new job, you don't need to end your life. Anyhow, these suicides come amid a backdrop of massive investigations into major fraud and manipulation in all major markets:

of course you don't need to end your live... but it's not really as simple as it sounds, you just don't just pick up a local newspaper to look for another 5 million per year job... you had your chance, you blew it, now rest of your life you will be at best managing some local branch of some bank for $50k/year...

doesn't sound that terrible, but coming from $5M/year it's gotta be rough... just imagine your own life, lets say you make $100k/year now... and then suddenly you are forced to live on $10k/year for the rest of your life, doesn't sound fun at all...

and nevermind the obvious fact that you will have less $$, but on top of that your wife will probably divorce you, you will lose all your "friends", won't be able to enjoy any activities you used to, etc

I don't buy your argument at all...... many here had 6 figure years and low 5 figure years. Money is banked - generally we're talking about highly educated, smart, savvy people who are winners and have balls (not cowardly). People don't often kill themselves over things like this.

The FX manipulation was probably one of the biggest....... and everything about it has not come out yet. There is still sizeable news that is yet to come. As well as today reports of another latest suicide (from Citigroup):

http://rt.com/usa/207463-citigroup-m...death-suicide/

"A leading campaigner for ethical banking practices, Citigroup managing director Shawn D. Miller, was found dead in the bathtub of his New York City apartment, following what police suspect was a suicide in a year marked by suspicious banker deaths."

My girlfriend is a police officer. She has had 3 fellow officers kill themselves in the past 4 months.

That's one department, in one city. Fuck the bankers.

These guys live in a really competitive world. They have neighbors bringing it in huge. They go to lunch, clubs, etc with these people. That all goes away and maybe some jail time or stain on your record so you can't get back in the game. I don't think a banker living in NYC and making 1 million a year is putting much aside if he is living large.

We saw the same thing on here and most of us lived in our basements making huge bucks.

Suicide in the police dept is very common. There was an article in the paper here in Toronto about it a few months back.

ok, now give me the bad news.

Her kids father did (also a cop) and it's devastated them. It's a HUGE problem in the police community, and it's usually because they're not given the sort of support system that our military gets and they often see a lot of the same "shit".

It's sad. But I'm not losing any sleep over a banker who fucked his own shit up.

Well, of course, if there is any foul play by authorities here, they might be relying upon this kind of perspective to help keep it going. Really if you read the above stories, its really shocking the level of the fraud that is going down..... it looks like something is about to break wide open.

Interesting to see that there are a whole lot of other people thinking the same thing but don't want to talk about it:

12:00 - "I have no doubt, the system is so freaked out right now about there being economic Edward Snowden or about information getting out that, without a shadow of a doubt, proves what many of us have known now for years, that this economy is completely a Ponzi scheme, a complete phony, so they're killing people that potentially pose a threat to the banking system at it stands. So that shows you how desperate these people are but it also shows you what's actually on the line."
