Ex-car wash owner to be sentenced for ID fraud
 

PHOENIX (CBS 5) -

The former owner of a chain of metro Phoenix car washes accused of immigration fraud in its hiring practices is scheduled to be sentenced Friday for his guilty plea to a felony charge of identity fraud.

Prosecutors are asking that Daniel Lewis Hendon, the former owner of Danny's Family Car Wash, go to prison.

Hendon's lawyer is seeking a sentence of probation, home confinement and community service.

Hendon was implicated in the scheme by 14 current or former managers who have pleaded guilty to the same charge.

Some lower-level managers said that at least one higher-up within Danny's instructed them to rehire workers who had to be fired after a federal audit found nearly half of the company's 1,900-person workforce were people who weren't authorized to work in the country.

Observation: Have you ever noticed the amount of shady businesses with the word "family" in them? It's almost a marketing plan for some crooks. I've run across 2 local businesses that tried to gain trust by using the word.

One was a "family auto repair" who was famous for overcharging and doing unnecessary repairs that finally went out of business the other was a "Family carpet cleaning" that would go thru dressers looking for something to steal as they cleaned carpets.

One of the drawbacks from kicking out the illegal immigrants. All the car washes will go to shit. Sucks for Danny because he's just trying to keep things running.

having them work here is just the tip. them having children here and not paying in is the problem. wiring money out of the country they didnt pay taxes on. its time to make them pay or send them back to their shit holes. :2 cents:

Good point, if being in the country ILLEGALLY, not paying taxes, is overlooked or soon to be forgiven then why do the rest of us have to follow any lesser laws at all?
