White people are more likely to do risky shit with cops because they don't think anything will happen. How many black people are intentionally trying to start shit with cops? Think about that. I remember after a late softball game in Harlem, me and 3 other guys were on the bleachers drinking beer. This is three white guys and one black guy. It's completely dark with no street lights, and two NYC cops stroll over to let us know we shouldn't be drinking in public. We weren't drinking at that moment, but they wrote us tickets for open container or something. My friend (as white and Irish as they come) wouldn't accept the ticket and said there's no way you saw me drinking that beer. The cop said he did see us drinking, but he folded his arms and said he wasn't drinking. I don't even remember how the situation resolved itself, but the black guy (who the most docile with the cops) was like "what the fuck are you doing?" He made a joke about how if he tried that kind of resistance to the police, we'd all be trying to remove a baton from his asshole. He was pretty funny.
you're a black guy...imagine that. I know its the most horrible thought you've ever had, but go with it. Given the historic perspective of knowing how cops usually treat black people, would you be pushing your luck knowing that you could easily get shot and the cop will more than likely face no consequences for having BPFS. Black panic fire syndrome.
I'm not even saying Wilson wasn't justified in his force. He's trained to react the way he reacted, and that kid shouldn't have played with fire. His death is his own fault. But if people are going to act this extreme, there's something much deeper than Michael Brown's death under the surface.
