How I made my wordpress blog responsive!

Hi guys,

It seems that mobile is the new hype now with google and so on and like always we have to adapt.

I have a wordpress blog that is getting about 40k UV daily and the theme I had was not responsive. You could see it well on mobile but it was not responsive in the way that google (and other) understand responsive view.

No, there are two ways to make your wordpress responsive:

1. With a responsive theme and 2. With a plugin.

I have a WP that is custom made and I've been working on it to make it the way I want for 1 year now, I would not change it so I had to use a plugin.

NOTE: 99.9% of WP plugins that say will make your theme responsive , usually detect mobile and switch to custom theme that is implemented inside the plugin, so If you have google analytics code, tracking codes and so they might not work with the plugin, because they are not installed with the theme the plugin has.

So here goes:

1. Go to wordpress plugin and find the plugin called "Any Mobile Theme".

https://wordpress.org/plugins/any-mo...heme-switcher/

Install it and set what theme you want to use for the mobile layout.

2. I used "TwentyTwelve" WP theme, developed by Wordpress because it's rather simple to modify it and it's very mobile friendly.

3. That's about it :).

Note what you modify in the WP developed theme because sometimes they update them and all your changes could disappear if you've made them in the original theme.

Any Mobile Theme also has a link to switch to the desktop version if you want.
It's also compatible with 4.0.1 WP.

I'm not saying that it is the best method , but after a few days research , I've found this plugin to be the best and it's also good rated.

There is another way , you can create viewpoint and custom css using wp_mobile_detect but from my experience wp_mobile_detect does not detect all kinds of mobile and tablet devices.

Now make it responsive, with a silo structure.

I haven't tried it but there are some themes that do that.
