Why aren't there more of them?

Why aren't there more black police officers patrolling their own neighborhoods? Why aren't more young black males applying for the position "To Serve and Protect" their own neighborhoods?

Why isn't this subject openly discussed in the middle of all this tension? Why aren't black males looking at this as a great career opportunity as well as a way to serve their own communities?

Above average pay for their area. Good retirement program. Good lifetime health benefits. And they can even buy a HUD home for HALF the asking price with a very low interest rate*

If the black community is so fed up with white officers why aren't they asking for more black ones? Or is the "snitch" mentality/stigma too high?

40% of my old platoon are law enforcement, had me and my good friend go down that path, i passed last second i change my mind, you know why uncle told me, you cant win, you will be part of there gang againt your own people, you will turn againt your own. Most can't pass the background, psychological,polygraph and aptitude tests. A lot of law enforcement jobs require previous l.e. experience, military, college, and are pretty competitive.

To get their feet wet young rookie white cops are thrown on mids the hood to pop their cherry. Then when it is time, they are given the option to seek better zones.

A lot of cities sometimes lie in predominantly Latino and black areas. Making black cops only patrol black areas is going back to segregation.

My old friend was a female black cop. She hated it. She lost sleep, was treated badly because she was a "uncle tom" "whitey lover,"

She patrolled an area where there are 20 cruisers in 4 square miles.. So.. She quit and went to a college campus.

And... Cities and counties are getting rid of pensions and moving to 401k. Most pensions are bankrupting the cities. Why work for a Kmart retirement?

When you become a cop no matter what race or gender, you become a member of a gang.

The biggest most well equipped gang in the city. It becomes us verse them, the public.
