Dinner in NYC

Sitting in Mozilla's offices in NYC, about to meet with one of their VPs. What's for dinner? Decisions, decisions. We had lots of good Vegas suggestions, so how about New York City this time?

sonofsam 12-11-2014 02:49 PM

Was this a dinner suggestion thread

or a subtle brag thread? ;)

AaronM 12-11-2014 02:53 PM

Head over to Brooklyn.

Welcome to Peter Lugers Steakhouse

And don't bother with Gallagher's in NYC, their Vegas location is awesome but the original seriously sucks.

There is no shortage of outstanding restaurants in NYC.

candyflip 12-11-2014 03:11 PM

Elaine's.

And Dom isn't one to brag. :winkwink:

djroof 12-11-2014 03:15 PM

Greek souvlaki :)

candyflip 12-11-2014 03:15 PM

Nooooooo...

I just read that Elaine's has closed but a new place has opened in the same spot is is doing pretty much the same thing.

Mylos few blocks from central park

edgeprod 12-11-2014 03:35 PM

Haha, good call, SoS, but if you brag about NYC, you haven't been anywhere real. Looking for somewhere down by 23rd and Park or up by Times Square.

ilnjscb 12-11-2014 04:39 PM

Megu or Nobu

Nobu's has that casual dining side. Great for celebrity spotting and you can get in at the last minute sometimes.

Or they did have. I now realize I have not been there in forever.

Modern over by Rockafeller Center and the Plaza Hotel. Bring you big checkbook though. It's amazing!

There's an Olive Garden in Times Square. :winkwink:

Watch out, fox loves chicken :)

jimmycooper 12-11-2014 06:53 PM

If you're near 23rd and Park, check out Les Halles.

marcop 12-11-2014 06:59 PM

Marea, Central Park South near Columbus Circle--I love this place... awesome seafood and awesome pasta--check this out: The Making of Michael White's Fusilli at Marea | Serious Eats

IF you are in Manhattan for lunch i suggest trying Kyochun chicken in Korea town.
It is a fried chicken place done Korean style.

Basically they add soy sauce or sometimes sesame oil to the batter and deep fry the chicken with it. It is amazing. If you have some kimchi with it, it kind of balances out health wise..haha

I was referring to the Mozilla VP meeting :winkwink: I was poking fun though <3

edgeprod 12-11-2014 07:25 PM

Just flew in from my private island, took my helicopter to my hovercraft, then had a team of tallish children carry me through the streets. In my hand-crafted suit and baby seal shoes, dripping in gold and diamonds, I approached the hotdog vendor, thinking back to the days when I had a Viper.

"Mustard, please," I said, disgusted that I had to speak with this peon. From the rooftop, 12Clicks cackled with glee as Juicy rolled by, cock hanging out the window, driven by Rochard in his Mustang.

Oh, haha, that's even less to brag about -- I included that so people would know where I was, geographically. :winkwink:

Columbus circle has some nice places to eat. If you want a steak, Porter House New York | Dinner is excellent. Michael Lomonaco is their head chef, unless he moved on again... he was the head chef at windows on the world before it came down. You won't find a better steak.

jimmycooper 12-11-2014 07:49 PM

Or if you really want to cement your baller status, go to Per Se.

Am I perceived as a baller? All these years of trolling GFY have finally come to fruition?

Thank you all for the suggestions! :thumbsup

That's his usual style :)
And look how he subtily he pretended he did not understand you were talking about mozilla meeting, lol (he is big shot and meeting mozilla VP is nothing). He did this countless times already, it is pretty funny actually :)

Because saying "mozilla offices" helps people to establish your location in NYC easier than saying an actual location, like neighborhood or landmark, or street name/address or etc :thumbsup

Personally, I haven't really thought about whether or not you're a baller but if you can get a table at Per Se on such short notice, then you're definitely a baller.

You wrapped your little mind around a thread successfully! Color me genuinely impressed! I'll tell you what: there's hope for you yet, my mental-midget friend. :)

As my office is at Park and 27th, some good spots in the area if you still need them:

Blue Smoke BBQ (Park and 27th)
Turkish Kitchen (28th and 3rd ave)
Cannibal (29th and Park)
Harding's (Park and 21st)

thecatwrites 12-11-2014 10:36 PM

Peter Luger or Old Homestead in manhattan amongst others, but it really depends on what you feel like eating. NYC has it all and more.

That's funny how you posted something and nobody responded, so you quoted your own post to bring attention to it again. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

(I'm laughing at what you did, not your posts)

mineistaken 02-17-2015 06:04 PM
