Google indexing/traffic article.

Posted this in the mainstream biz forum because I...dunno. Let's try again, hey?

Good afternoon all,

I'm Joseph, Head Writer for BaDoink.com.

We are currently putting together a piece about Google and their indexing of porn sites, and problems faced by webmasters and others in the adult industry.

We are looking to speak with people who have experienced something akin to this from Google, and how it has affected your business, problems in correspondence and anything else in that sphere.

It comes down to two simple questions I would be grateful for any of you to answer:

1. Have you ever had any problems/arguments with Google re: how your site is indexed?

2. Are your organic search results not coming up the way they should?

Google have banned adult ads in the past, and if there is evidence of more problems on a wider scale, then the industry has a major issue on its hands. It also sets a dangerous precedent for other non-adult industries ("We don't like you...goodbye!").

We are hoping to have this piece ready and uploaded asap and any answers/help given are gratefully received. If you do participate, we are happy to retain your right to anonymity should you choose to do so. Feel free to vent, curse, extrapolate, whatever as much as possible. We welcome all and any input!

Thank you for your time and for allowing me to post here.

Best,

Joseph.

Cheers mate. Hoping to post here a lot more, given our site coverage. Had a look around and seems a decent community.

Welcome to GFY! Love your site.

Google is the cheating wife or girlfriend who swears she loves you while she's fucking the neighborhood bareback.

They are ok to deal with for non-adult issues.

SERPS are better and better I guess but we've noticed using other tools that Google SE traffic is a never ending roller coaster with them. For us. :2 cents:

We're in Tokyo. If you can ever use a reporter/photog in Gojira's crib let me know.

Thanks for the kind words, CK. We're getting there...I hope!

Do you want to divulge a little more info for me? Your role in the biz? Any experience/anecdotal evidence etc. If you're happy to give a site name etc then feel free. Understood if not though!

...and yes we would LOVE to discuss correspondence via Tokyo. That's one thing we've discussed a lot in the past seven days.

Google doesn't ban adult sites for being adult; that's too simplistic. It often filters junk sites and duplicates and it sometimes filters adult sites unless the searcher has an explicit (naughty word) in the search term, with exceptions.

Over the years I've seen Google Engineers discuss the industry and even offer tips to adult webmasters.

google algo programmers are total idiots, enough said :)

lepsoma 12-15-2014 08:29 AM

we never experienced any problems with google! okay, we are new, so maybe problems will come, or we are doing something really good

Barry-xlovecam 12-15-2014 08:51 AM

Google Adwords doesn't ban 'adult sites' per se. They are not accepting Adwords for hard core porn websites -- that is not all adult websites.

Google AdSense does not accept adult websites.

There is a big difference.

If Google did not index porn Google would lose 20% to 30% of their traffic audience.

The aspiring Facebook search will be porn free I guess ... aspiring ...

Welcome to GFY BTW.

I would only like to add that we're the most poorly indexed industry, other industries still get away with blatant link building schemes that flat out just wouldn't fly in our industry.

Asides from being de-indexed "accidently" by google's pigeon algorithm early in the year i would say this... Adult is by far the most compliant, (minus the idiot noobs still buying from link wheels like it's 1985), yet it's next to impossible to be indexed frequently when you have large properties. Though you can make 180 sitemaps, have your site architected properly, create massive amounts of high quality contextual links and backlink your way to the promised land.. Google has seemingly targeted our industry to further their interests in Advertising.

Google can't make money off us anymore so we're truly the disenfranchised internet wizards who get ZERO respect when Adult has been on the forefront of technology, SEO and overall internet marketing strategies for years!

Love when i beat the algorithms with pure SEO and hate to see the other big names pay their way to the top.

Get Google Analytics Premium for $150k for the year, i bet you own the front page!

I'm gonna go karate chop my keyboard now

My Google traffic is still growing.. I don't work with backlinks anymore, but just use the social media tools that are available. The use of Twitter, Tumblr and StumbleUpon works great for me and some other social media platforms also bring in a nice amount of traffic.. Since I started working like this, Google is showing me more and more love.... I'm not complaining.
