The two women moved fairly quickly as they left the Target store with about $8,500 worth of gift cards. The problem: The gift cards were purchased with credit cards belonging to someone else, Montgomery County police say.
Authorities said the incident occurred on Dec. 5. A 39-year-old woman was eating dinner at a restaurant in the White Flint area when she got a series of text messages and phone calls from her credit card companies, alerting her to several large purchases being made on her cards. One purchase was for $4,000 on a Visa card, another was for $4,000 on an American Express and another for $530 to a MasterCard.
The woman looked in her purse and realized her wallet was missing.
